HRT for low mood and depression - my experience
« on: October 15, 2018, 12:33:02 PM »

Hello everyone,
I thought I would do a positive post was when I first came onto this website I was desperate for good news and messages of hope as I`m sure lots of you all out there are. When I started HRT 7 weeks ago I was an emotional wreck - bursting into tears all day and every day over something and nothing ... my life felt like total crap. Despite the Dr trying to give me AD`s and saying "HRT doesn`t help with depression" I knew it was hormonal for me and asked to try it. Went on femseven sequi patches and felt a bit better within 3 days, and think I am still gradually improving all the time. I almost feel normal again.  There are still things wrong with my life but I feel more able to either change them or put up with them rather than constantly crying about it all! Just started my first period since being on HRT (it`s 2 weeks later than it should have been but I gather it takes a few months to settle down) and no cramps, sore boobs or PMT feelings.  I just hope to goodness it all lasts. But to anyone out there who thinks HRT is just for flushes or whatever, I would say do try it instead of AD`s if you can, I`m so glad I went down that route. Won`t work for everyone but I can hopefully report a positive.   :)

Thank you for sharing this. I hope you continue to do well and keep feeling better.
I really believe my anxiety, depression, crying spells, etc are hormonal and am hoping to get the help with that soon.

If only more doctors would listen and understand that we KNOW our bodies (sometimes-mine is confusing me lately ;D).

DQ I can relate xx I am happy that the route you have taken is the right on for you.  For me it was the only option otherwise my GP would have been lying face down with one of those needles he has in his office stuck firmly in his bottom!!!!! ;D ;D

It is trial and error as I have also learned, I still have off days (a fair few hubby would say!!!) but I am better able to manage the urge to rip someone's head clean off their shoulders now which is good!!! I still have bouts of speaking as I find to the point of probably hurting the ones I love but hey ho life's a bitch!!! and it's nothing personal.... but it's better and the challenging days for me are more tolerable than without my HRT.
