Soon there will be no shops on the High Street worth going into!

Wilko have lost money this year too!

Oh no!  are we not buying stuff .......  or is it that the Landowners are raising the ground rents?

Also, people haven't got the money to spend.
What with the cost of gas and electric bills getting higher all the time!
I know our household bills have gone up loads in the last couple years.
People are working just to pay those and food bills, which also keep going up.
I think people are holding onto their clothes for longer too, instead of buying new.
Charity shops were saying there's not much being donated.
It's really grim....

Everyone is hanging on to their money in case Brexit is a disaster. Well more than it already is, that is.

This isn't Brexit. Yet  .  Where are the auditors in all these Companies

Fear of what is around the corner is enough. Brexit uncertainty is bound to have an effect.

Plus we are being taught that over indulgence is wrong in all things. Challenged not to buy new clothes etc. in order to save our planet. We are asked to think about where our 'no longer needed stuff ends up from the make up we wear, the food we eat, the cars we drive.

Yes, I think the throw away society is coming to and end. Better to buy a few quality products than lots of rubbish.

The younger generation are still spending.  I work with a very mixed age group and I can tell you, they can spend money.

Do they still visit the high street or are the more internet shoppers (like me)?

It's all going online, we visited the UK recently, while looking to buy the odd thing here & there , kept coming up against "well if you look at our website" ! Or " No not in store, but we can order it "  Shops are missing the point, I go to the shop to look & buy. I can order stuff anytime all by myself.

I have a youngish Mum hairdresser and she is forever telling me about girly weekends she goes on to spas or country hotels, they go to posh hotels for afternoon tea, they spend £75 on these hombre hair colourings etc.  I have four nieces all with kids and they spend an absolute fortune on trips to theme parks, zoos, cinemas, shows and have far more extravagent parties than my kids did.

There is no shortage of money with most of the young people I know.

I don't blame them. Life can be short. Who knows what's around the corner for any of us and if they can afford it (which is the important part) then enjoy it.

I see no evidence of people not spending money.  Everyone I know is still taking holidays, still buying new cars, still dining out and enjoying themselves.

I was out for afternoon tea yesterday with two friends and the hotel was really busy. Hubby and I had a day out in the city and business was brisk and a lot of money was changing hands. 

In my opinion, Coast hasnt moved with the times, Patisserie Valerie seems to have been internal dodgy dealings and House of Frazer is stuck in a time warp.
