Do any of you ladies have a good run of no panic and then wham it hits you like a ton of bricks. I seem to get quite a few days of nothing then hits me again
I'm postmenopausal been on HRT patches Femseven Conti for 14 weeks now.  Fed up with the anxiety coming back all the time. I was the same at perimenopause.  Feeling low :(

Hi angel1964
I have recently had anxiety & panic attacks. I have had them before on & off but have been able to deal with it but recently it hit me really hard. I went to the gp who prescribed AD which made me worse so I am now going to try a higher dose of hrt. I'm currently taking femoston conti 1/5 but going to 2/10. Will try it for a couple of months to see if it makes any difference. I also have a phone call from a counsellor today which my local council supplies. I hadn't spoken about how i feel to my family before but opened up as I had a total meltdown at the weekend and found it helped.
Do you have someone to talk to?
I hope some of the ladies on here will be able to give you more advice as im really new to this forum.

Hi Charlie 62, I have had on and off anxiety for years but peri and post it has it me badly. I do have people to talk too but unless they have had anxiety they don't understand. I have refused AD as I don't know anyone that gets off of them.  I have online CBT therapy through my doctor but that doesn't help.  I was off from the end of June from work with anxiety and returned last week on a phased return doing 3 hours a day. I feel so deflated that I can't even manage 5 days at 3 hours!  Glad you have opened up to family now :)   Are you post menopause too?

How many people do you actually know that have taken anti-depressant medication and had difficulty stopping them?  How many people do you know that take ADs?  :-\ .......... Some can ease flushes as well as easing anxiety.

I stopped one particular AD by weaning off, it took 9 weeks with GP support.  Still here and still taking ADs - for Life. Otherwise I wouldn't get out of bed.  I also have anti-anxiety medication, Rescue Remedy mouth spray, a beta-blocka and emergency pill.  Something seems to work most days  ::).

Good diet.  Keeping hydrated.  Gentle exercise.  Hobbies.  'me time' is important.  Eating regularly throughout the 24 hours may ease anxiety as when the body is hungry, it can cause anxiety surges.  Especially when cortisol kicks in early in the morning [the waking hormone].

Hormones can cause anxiety surges.  How were you during your menstruating years?  Which symptom would you like to ease first?

Hi i have several friends that are on ADs and have tried coming off them and can't :( I don't remember having the anxiety in my menstruating years just serious period pain with light bleeds. The only symptom I get is anxiety attacks which then gets me down. When I have these attacks I feel so drained, no energy and tired but cannot sleep during day. I sleep ok at night and only wake once around 5am for the toilet then same at 6am. The anxiety kicks in around 7/8 am but not everyday.  I change my patch every Friday and am wondering if it's a surge of hormones that could be doing it??

Hi Angel1964
Yes i am post menopause. I am nearly 56. I went on the contraceptive pill years ago to deal with PMS and didnt have a period for the whole time I was taking it but at 55 was told i had to stop. Tried for a couple of months without anything but then needed hrt. I have been on Femoston 1/5 which really helped but have recently found it hard to manage although it helped with hot flushes, restless legs, tiredness, itchy skin and the various other physical symptoms it isn't controlling my psychological symptoms. There are so many different forms of hrt, how are we supposed to know what is best when our gp's don't. My gp has prescribed femoston 2/10 at my request but i didn't know until i was on here that it might not be right for me so im going to speak to the pharmacist and ask for more information on it.
Iv only been posting on this forum for a while but have picked up some good tips. I think we women just try to do too much & be there for everyone else when at times we just need some space. I have found walking to be beneficial, even for only 20 minutes, it helps to clear my head.
Fortunately I am not working atm due to redundancy so i can take the time to sort this out. I am glad I didn't carry on with the AD. I think it was a knee jerk reaction to my anxiety that i agreed to take them but i would like to manage without. I understand what CLKD says and different programmes of medication work for different people.
Hope you start to feel better soon.

You could try a herbal remedy. I used rhodiola from my health shop. It was quite a big capsule, but I sprinkled the contents over yoghurt as easier to swallow.
I used this whilst coming off AD, been off AD now for 18 months , been a struggle but I'm getting there. It helped my anxiety. I do concentrate on my breathing, as I breathe to quickly when anxiety strikes
Sending hugs in support for you at this time for you.
