HRT Patches
« on: October 09, 2018, 08:21:24 AM »

Hi all I'm new to this site and am looking for some advice. I've recently changed from taking my HRT in tablet form to patches (FemSeven-Conti) but can't get them to stick!
They're meant to stay on for a week but I've gone through 3 in 3 days - any advice?
I've stuck them just below my waist but it came off as soon as I pulled my jeans down and then tried the top of both thighs and had the same problem - is there a better place to stick them? Many

Hi there,
I had terrible problems with these patches too...
I was told to heat the patch with a hairdryer for a short time to activate the glue, hold the patch down for 3 minutes (again to activate the glue)... nothing I did worked!
In the end I switched back to evorel - and they stick!!
Just to note though in evorel it's a different progesterone...
Im sorry I can't help further. It's such a shame as many women have said the same thing so you'd think the manufacturer would change the glue!
Good luck.

I use femseven sequi and had trouble with the first few sticking. So Ive bought some bigger knickers (sad but true!) and put them on my hip under the knicker line where nothing rubs. Warm skin and patch for a few seconds with hairdryer and press hard for at least a minute. They still dont always last a week bit a few have! Good luck!

Hi again...
I'm having a terrible time at present with my HRT and just researching and come across a post that states Tegaderm dressings are fantastic for keeping femseven patches on!!
You apparently need the 7x6cm size and you can buy them from Amazon.
As I'm feeling totally inhuman on evorel patches plus utrogestran I am going to ask to go back to femseven using tegaderm - got to be worth a try?? I did feel ok on femseven and it was only the fact I couldn't keep them on that I stopped.
Hope this helps... I'll let you know if and how I get on.

Hi scottishjune

 :welcomemm:

Apparently Femseven patches are out of stock in many places because the manufacturers are improving the glue (as reported on this forum) - presumably this problem has been reported so many times?

Probably not a good idea to heat the patch directly with a hair-dryer because you could deactivate some of the oestrogen - better idea to warm your skin with the hairdryer. The Tegaderm seem to be recommended by some women on here but the main problem with these are - you can't really see if the patch underneath is stuck directly to the skin - which of course is crucial ie it may appear to be stuck fast but the middle might have come away.

Re application site - butt cheeks all the way! As long as you are not a thong or Brazilian gal, then if the nix cover the cheek it should stay put - just be careful when you go to the loo ( ie don't peel off your pants and jeans) and give it a warm palm every time you do so - to make sure it is still well stuck down - you should at least have a better chance...you'll get used to it! Hopefully the new formulation will be an improvement because many women seem to like this patch and not so much the Evorel conti/sequi.

(I've used Estradot patches for 10 years, which are tiny - and separate progesterone).
