Good morning racjen

So sorry to hear you haven't got any further and are still feeling so desperate.
Perhaps you could try sending an email to Dr. Currie on this site setting out all your problems and concerns she may be able to offer you some advise or point you in the right direction.
I think it costs around £25.

Hope you manage to get some help and today is a better day for you.

Don't waste your money on seeing Prof Studd, if you're that intolerant to progesterone he'll insist you have a hysterectomy, he'll also tell you he can arrange for you to have it done in Spain.

Racjen

You don't think your oestrogen is too high do you? I ask because whenever I've tried to go higher than (evorel) 50 I feel very jittery. My body doesn't like it, so for me to feel well the standard dose is the best. I know it's a minefield all this balancing your hormones and I've always said this that hormones are the precursors to our moods. Your sensitivity  (like mine) seems to be triggered when things are out (even slightly), it is well worth experimenting with a lower dose to see if you feel any better.

Ladybt28 I usually take it for 7 days 2 x vaginally, 1 x orally in that pattern to minimise side effects. However, this month I've taken it for 12 days (as I was feeling guilty) and I'm really suffering with the withdrawal. It does eventually come out of my system and then I feel fine again- until the next time! Having said that it's the only prog I've been able to tolerate so it's better than nothing cos I don't want to go back to how I was pre hrt.

I'm seeing a gynaecologist later this month to explore options (if any). Abbafan I take your point about hysterectomy but that's not always straightforward either is it?x

Hi Perinowpost, I wasn't saying racjen should have one, I was saying that's what Prof Studd would tell her to do. That's what he told me I should do because I feel he lost patience with me being intolerant to his usual one size fits all regime. I hope you find the answer soon racjen, you've suffered enough.

Hysterectomy is a huge major operation and brings it's own problems!

Progesterone intolerant too! Had hysterectomy (womb only) at 46 due to severe prolapse, was on combined hrt before and estrogen only after.......hormones never balanced either way, flat moods, headaches, nausea etc.  Went to prof studd as was so so desperate....had ovaries removed after all else failed and this only helped nausea! This whole hormone journey is exhausting! and because of estrogen dependant BC I can't use estrogen, even phytoestrogens in the like of Menopace is a No No!  Fed up had to give up my job! So sorry to take over Racjen, just know what it must be like for you and the only thing helping me at present is my AD which you cannot tolerate.  As another lady said, perhaps your estrogen is bit too high? Would it be worth considering an Endocrine specialist? I have thought of this myself. X

As far as the estrogen level thing goes, until mine got up into the high 100s I was still suffering badly from depression, at this level it seems to keep the depression at bay; at one point very briefly it went right up to 2000 pmol before we got the dose right, but it made no difference to the anxiety one way of the other. So I think in my case it's not estrogen related, it's either progesterone intolerance or lack of testosterone (which I know is also the case but I couldn' t tolerate it either, also made me very depressed after about a week).

I am also an ex DR Studd patient & I could not tolerate progesterone of any type. It made me crazy. I am not a fan of his. Didn't like his attitude. I had a hysterectomy on his recommendation & I am slightly better but it is still hard trying to balance the oestrogen. For you it is hard to know if it is the progesterone or not. What about an endocrinologist? They specialize in hormones

Blimey, it's taken me a year to get my GP even to refer me to a Menopause Clinic; if I start talking about endocrinologists now I think they'll probably ban me altogether....

well, the effects of the Mirena have worn off so I'm just back to my normal state, which is extreme anxiety in the mornings, bursting into tears regularly and generally feeling miserable. Had a  meeting at work yesterday (been off since last Nov) in we which pretty much agreed that there's no point me trying to go back, nothing's improving right now and there's no way I'd be able to cope. So they're starting the formal dismissal process and by Christmas I'll have lost my job. Feeling pretty gutted about that right now. Waiting to hear from  the Menopause Clinic but they told me there's a 3 -4 month wait for an appointment....feels like one long nightmare x.
