Why am I constantly overheating on Estrogel?
« on: August 20, 2018, 08:22:31 PM »

I'm on 2 pumps.
Splitting them 1 pump  in the morning and 1 pump in the evening.
My estrodial levels are registering at around 400 pmols  on these 2 pumps.

I'm just hot ALL the time. Occasionally I can feel the odd isolated hot flush but mostly I'm just sweating and constantly over heating.

Is it possible that I need less estrogen?

I switched to the gel from EVOREL patches because I swim a lot and the patches just kept coming off.

When I was on  a 50mcg EVOREL patches my levels were around 220 pmols and I didn't have any problems at all with constant sweating and overheating. I fact I felt much better.

HI,

Yes I know that feeling well.  I get it on 50mcg patches and anything above that.  I didn't initially connect the two  as there were so many other things going on at the time.

I have tried reducing the amount of oestrogen and the symptoms seemed to reduce.  I am currently on 37.5mcg patches from 50mcg patches, from 2 pumps of oestrogel daily.

I came off the oestrogel as I was looking for a bit more stability in dosage as I felt the peaks and troughs were not such fun.

Hope this helps.

Hi Rossi,
Thanks for replying.
I wonder if I lower my Estrogel to maybe 1 pump a day that the constant heat might disappear?
Although this might lower my mood....?
Interesting that you suffered this reaction too. I wonder if others have had a similar experience?

You just said you felt much better when your oestrogen level was half what it is now.  So you have sort of answered your own question really.  Try less gel.  Perhaps start with 1.5 pumps to avoid a sudden drop.

Thank you Sue. I shall very gradually drop to 1 pump and see if it resolves the issue. I have to drop slowly because I can get very unpleasant side effects.
