Aches and Pains
« on: July 30, 2018, 01:06:54 PM »

Hi there

Are there any members out there who are struggling or who have struggled with sore joints.

I have been diagnosed with Arthritis in my hips and feet and each day is a struggle.  At  48yrs I didnt expect to be diagnosed but heh ho just got to deal with it.

I am back at Doctors on Friday to speak again about HRT as the tiredness I am feeling is shocking - literally falling asleep at drop of hat.  One reason being cant sleep at night due to pain in my hips and also part peri menopause.

Does anyone else have experience or suggestions in dealing with this.  I dont know if its all arthritis pain or combination.

The pain is right down hip into my groin and down into my knee.  They said not sciatic pain??

I havent had a period for 4 months.

Any help please?

Take over the counter pain relief.  Have a chat with a local Pharmacist for advice.

As oestrogen levels drop off muscles may become lax = aches and pains.

Have you had recent X-rays to decide how bad the damage to your joints might be?

Back pain is in the area we know as the hips: hip ratites pain is felt in the groin  ::).  4 me sciatica starts when I don't kneel when doing things, i.e. filling dishwasher, putting on dogs' leads.  It is in the bum, runs down the back or front of the thigh misses the calf and into the foot  :o  ::).  Brisk exercise after swallowing 2 Nurofen helps me.

We bought a new mattress which also helped.

Thanks.  No pain in bum (well not of that sort) - struggling to get in and out of car or lean over to close car door over.  The joys.  Just slapped on some brufen gel  ;D

Hi, you should have a full blood work up to check for various causes such as low iron etc. I would also ask to see a muscular skeletel / pain specialist as it can be sciatic pain, or prudential nerve is another reason  sometimes. What you are describing is nerve pain, which can be dull ache or sharp.

Hope you get relief soon.

My hips and knees and back have been very dodgy at times. Definitely joint pain. Also lots of pins and needles. Did some reading and suspect that certain mineral and vitamin deficiencies don't help. So now take iron (important because of heavy periods), magnesium (supposed to help the anxiety), vitamin C (ditto), starflower oil (sore boobs). Sometimes also a multivitamin. I think it helps.

I have Osteoarthritis in knee's, painful fingers and hips, I do take OTC meds but I am going to try Turmeric Paste, just waiting for online purchase of what I need, other ladies on this site have tried it and it helps, so going to give it a go..

Hope your GP can help you..xx

Lack of oestrogen may cause aches and pains.  Bone density tests need to be taken of hips and pelvis to get a base line.

Over the counter pain relief can ease symptoms.  4 me it was aches and pains all over but fortunately, not at the same time  ::). If ankles are stiff in the morning, try taking appropriate medication at bed time?
