Hot flushes
« on: July 22, 2018, 08:53:55 PM »

Ladies,

I never knew anything could get me down as much as these hot flushes. It's two years this October since I slept through the night. I have around 15-20 a day. Currently sat on the sofa, no tee shirt, sweat just rolling down my body. My bed clothes will be soaked again within the hour. Rash under my boobs from sweating so much (sorry, too much info) - I am accepting it as the norm but so down. Sage worked for a short time. Have just started Menopace with little hope.

I am worried sick about tablet side effects but wonder if it's time for HRT? Or any other ideas. I have read threads on flushes, just feeling desperate at the mo which is why I have started this new thread.

Sorry for moaning xx

Lynda07,

I totally feel your pain.

I have been battling with flushes on and off for a year.

I've had enough now, my quality of life (and sleep) is severely effected.

I have a telephone appointment with my GP in a couple of weeks time and all being well I intend to start on HRT.

Like you, I can't go on feeling like I do. I try to put on a brave face but it's misery making. Life is too short to feel like this on a daily basis.

Let us know what you decide and how you get on....

Hi try HRT. Nothing else will stop the flushes. The benefits outweigh the risks and side effects should be minimal.

Hi Lynda07. I had sweats just like yours. Drenched every 20 minutes day and night. I had to take spare clothes into work. Soggy bra and knickers are horrible. It was this and this alone that drove me to start HRT. If you are worried about digestive side effects from pill HRT you can have it in a patch or gel which bypasses the liver.

My flushes disappeared completely within 48 hours of applying the first patch. Nothing else worked for me.

Hi Lynda, in same boat too. I know it sounds obvious, but do drink a lot of water (I forget sometimes), and I've taken to having cool showers at random times, helps morale if nothing else.

My current worse patch is co-inciding with the hot weather, so insomnia thrown in free.

I can't take hrt but would investigate hrt options in your position.

Thank you so much for your replies. I can't imagine life without these awful sweats. To think HRT could stop them, well I'd be silly not to try it wouldn't I. I have a Dr appointment next Friday now. Fingers crossed xx

Good morning Lynda07

I am sure HRT will help you and as Taz said if you are worried about tablets ask for patches or gel which bypass the liver.

Good luck on Friday do let us know how you get on.
