It is normal to experience breast tenderness and maybe some pain initially when you increase oestrogen (like in pregnancy) as well as when you increase progesterone, but if it persists as has been said - it could be too high for you. I think most women will say that their breasts are at least slightly larger on HRT. Oestrogen will of course make them denser, when they would naturally become lacking in substance and somewhat floppy after menopause - mine certainly did ie the floppy thing, then the increase in density and slightly in size. You want to achieve an oestrogen level that makes you feel good - no persistent low mood (apart from what life throws at you), and no flushes and sweats, but without adverse side effects - and of course offset against progestogenic side effects which will be greater with higher doses of prog (needed if on higher doses of oestrogen). A tricky one for many of us!!
In your case it might be interesting to have your levels tested just to see what sort of absorption you are getting although I know this is not normally done and can be very unreliable? Come to think of it - do I recall you did have your estradiol levels tested a while back?
