Well, that unfortunately was one of the worst experiences of my life! The sedation didn't work for some reason even after they doubled it and then they gave me gas and air which also did nothing except maybe force me to breathe deeply. It was so painful I was sobbing!
Verdict so far is Colitis and possibly Crohns, 2 polyps cut, clipped and sent off to lab and an additional 6 biopsies taken plus the need for an MRI as my small intestine looked abnormal. I also had slightly more bleeding than expected so had to wait on ward afterwards in case needed to go back in. I spent most of the day crying. I'm back home now with meds and need to rest and keep an eye on the bleeding. I've also been given a 6 week follow up appointment which I'm hoping my biopsy and MRI results will be ready for.
They'll have to drag in in there kicking and screaming if they want me to have another one. One of the nurses said afterwards that she's never seen anyone react like me and that she thinks the sedation just didn't gel with me and therefore did nothing but that there are other ones available for if I have to have it again.
So, all in all, the whole thing was vile, painful and really upsetting and the results aren't good however it was right that I had it done as they're getting closer to being able to treat me. Just gotta keep calm now while waiting for the biopsy results and MRI.
Thanks for encouraging me to go ahead though as otherwise I'd have been carrying on without knowing so much was wrong down there and needed attention.
