New strange symptom?
« on: June 02, 2018, 04:17:42 PM »

I thought I had gotten my dizzy spells under control with Black Cohosh which has seemed to help.

This period though about a week and a half before I ran out of tablets so had a two day break - I went dizzy again when walking which then set off jynhirrenfous, out of control anxiety.

Then I got a new symptom - obviously I'm anxious when I go out that I might go dizzy but this is like vertigo or walking on a boat, with nausea and my legs feel sort of heavy and week when walking like I'm actually forcing myself to walk...

Has anyone else had this? I also have had terrible headaches this period.  I've just finished this month's period so I'm hoping this symptom will ease off but ugh it's horrible!

It's like I can actually feel the hormones sometimes which my Dr has said is possible! I'm only 42 but our family go through this early unfortunately!

Have you looked at the Diasy web-site?  that should read 'daisy'.  ::).

Also, hormones can cause all kinds of weird and strange feelings.  Vertigo leaves me in bed for hours, not daring to move  :o.  Your Pharmacist of GP can give advice as to whether 'stemotil' or similar anti-sickness drugs would be helpful.

Starla - you are experiencing very typical peri meno symptoms. If your oestrogen levels are dropping significantly then at your age you should be considering HRT to protect your heart and bones.  More headaches is a very classic sign that the body is struggling to maintain a cycle.  DG x

It could be a tachycardia where your heart rate is higher than usual on exertion. That kinda feels like you describe.

I remember running downstairs to collect my mail and then struggling to get back upstairs. Later that day I was walking around a small Tesco and could barely summon up the strength to pick up a couple of things. Felt weird so drive to Urgent Care (as was a Sunday) and they said I had a tachycardia that wouldn't come down (so not panic type as I was calm). It turned out to be peri but mine was too high oestrogen and when I've taken breaks from my prog cream I get it on some days.

Anyways, maybe measure your pulse next time to check.

Thanks all - I should say this is a brand new symptom and has only happened during my period... of course I've googled and scared myself silly 🙄

I have severe anxiety and now getting to the point where I'm worried to go out and the leg thing only happens when I'm out or if I'm in a crowded place.

I honestly feel more should be done to help us ladies - I feel nervous, scared, like I've lost myself and my looks, I feel fat, old and like I'm not myself at all.

It's like watching someone else sometimes - the old carefree, confident me has gone - instead I just feel horrendously self conscious. I never had a belly before this but now I can't shift it - I've started weight watchers so I hope that might help me shift a few pounds and might get a bit of my confidence back.

Us ladies go through so much!

That was one of my first peri symptoms and I had already been on high oestrogen hrt for years, so for me definitely not a low oestrogen symptom, could be fluctuation or low progesterone or testosterone symptoms for me.  I didn't find a cure unfortunately only on time it eased but hasn't ever fully gone away. I swear it was this symptom that caused the social anxiety in me as I was scared to faint in public.  Also the walking for me felt like wading through treacle at its worst x

Hi Starla! The same here! I am 43 and diagnosed with early meno a year ago. I am on hrt.
I was feeling exactly the same, old, depressed, tired and almost suicidal.
Hrt makes a huge difference to me and feel like my old self again. A lot of things are in our mind! Actually I feel and look better than 2 years ago and have better energy.
Stay strong! :)

Thanks everyone - I wish you hadn't had the same symptoms but in a way it is always a relief to hear others have gone through similar!

That's exactly it, walking through treacle and just feeling not myself. And definitely social anxiety for me too, I'm fine in the house but outside it's a fear of fainting etc too.

I've just moved so going to a new docs to address the anxiety first then see what help I can get.

Bless you Starla - that sounds very scary but as the others say the 'treacle walk' feeling in particular is very common. I'd definitely advocate chatting to your GP. I'm recently diagnosed at 46 and had a similar experience in the car on the way back from a funeral. Luckily it only happened the once although I do occasionally still feel nauseous in the car still which I've never suffered from before.

A good GP will get you on whatever you need - as Dancing Girl says he/she will likely consider hrt due to your age - mine said it really wasn't up for debate (in a nice way!) as you need to replace the oestrogen you're not producing.

Take Care

Yip sounds familiar and I also had the heavy legs. I thought I was having a stroke when I couldn't lift my right arm up I was in the coffee room at work and couldn't actually bring the cup to my mouth!!! Also felt like I was on a roundabout. Hormones are just the pits. I'm using Accupuncture to balance them out at the moment. X
