Hi

Does anyone on this forum have experience of this condition.
I have just seen a specialist who believes this could be what I have and has started me on dermovate ointment twice a day for two weeks along with a local anaesthetic gel to relieve the pain and itching. My symptoms are a white/paler cliterous and severe itching. No patches elsewhere.

I'd like to know more about the long term management of it.

Yes, I have lichen sclerosis - diagnosed about 7 years ago when I was 45, with a biopsy. My main symptoms were intense itching and pearly white patches of vulval skin. I was put on Dermovate, regularly at first to get it under control and then just once every couple of weeks or so for management. To be honest it really hasn't been a problem for me; it hasn't got any worse since menopause, I only use the cream once a month or so and it feels fine. One thing is, I was told by meno specialist that I should be being checked once a year because of the slightly increased cancer risk. This has never been mentioned to me and I must ask my GP - note to self
