Some symptoms sorted but not all- advice pls
« on: May 08, 2018, 07:37:08 PM »

So further to my previous posts I'm now on Femoston 1/10 just completing my 3rd month and spoke to my Doc today to continue for another 3 months then review. (None of the patches I tried made any difference to me and my skin won't tolerate them for longer than a week)

So I've had some easing of symptoms this last month and the bleeding all the time has stopped (1st month), my moods are starting to stop swinging so rapidly and making me feel so awful. The acne is getting slightly better and my concentration has improved slightly.

However I still have the hip pain and knee joint pain, I'm insomniac, the night sweats are still there, the breast cysts, still exhausted and I'm having trouble with my eyes focusing. Oh and I'm a complete nightmare when I switch from the oestrogen pills to the progesterone ones for at least a day and a half. (Have to forewarn my Hubbie to steer clear)

I asked the doc if it was possible for another blood test to check my levels but was surprised to find out that they don't do that - they solve from symptom based results only. Which I think is not the case in USA. So just wondered if there's anywhere that does a more tailor made solution based on the individual body in UK?

I know it's early days and there is no quick fix, just wondered if there was a private more tailored solution from you excellent ladies who have done this already?

Thanks in advance

You could try the higher dose of Femoston to see if that helps.

Hi Debs

When I started on Femoston 1/10 I saw immediate relief of sleeplessness within 2 weeks but it then took about 6-9 months for the other symptoms to really subside and for me to start feeling “normal”.  Unfortunately my oestrogen levels then seemed to take another dip and other symptoms got worse so the doctor put me onto Femoston 2/10 - the higher dose.

I think I read somewhere that it can take up to a year on HRT for symptoms to subside properly so you have the choice of waiting longer to see if that's you or to ask the GP for the higher dose.

I hope this helps a bit.

Debs - no HRT will be perfect.  If your bleeds have settled, then that's great but if you are still getting flushes then the higher dose may be appropriate.   I wouldn't rock the boat and change anything too drastically at this stage.  A couple of days of PMT is quite normal and is unlikely to change with a different HRt.
Insomnia, fatigue etc need other strategies  - a good diet and exercise regime are essential and I find Mindfulness and other relaxation techniques really help.  Take supplements like B12, Magnesium and Vitamin D - these all help with fatigue and sleep. Do read up on good strategies to help sleep - avoiding blue light in the evening can be very helpful. DG x
