Elleste solo
« on: April 24, 2018, 06:13:17 PM »

Hi all, have managed to persuade my GP to prescribe Elleste 1mg. As this is the lowest dose possible can I expect many side effects. I have had a hysterectomy so don't need progesterone.
Cheers Charliegirl@.

Hi Charliegirl@,

I've been on Elleste solo 2mg for over a year and have been really well on it. I haven't suffered any side effects. I too have had a hysterectomy.

Hi and welcome Charliegirl
You should feel only good effects e.g. more energy, fewer flushes and night sweats, better sleep etc.  It's unusual to get negative side effects from oestrogen only(it tends to be progesterone that gives the negative side effects) but you may find your breasts become a little sore at first and your lady bits may tingle as everything comes back to life.

Using oestrogen transdermally can be more effective, particularly over the age of 60, so at some stage you may want to change to Oestrogel or oestrogen patches but you may do fine on the pills.  Why are you expecting bad things???  Oestrogen is the ‘feel good' hormone that will protect your heart and bones and helps prevent urogenital atrophy - so you can look forward to some good things.  Ladies who have had a hysterectomy are less likely to get breast cancer if they use oestrogen HRT, so that's another plus - you can probably stay on oestrogen for the rest of you life provided you don't have health issues that prevent it e.g. overweight, drink too much alcohol or smoke. If this low dose doesn't control your menopause symptoms and you need a higher dose of oestrogen then go for it - see how you get on over the next 3-4 months.  Let us know how you get on. DG x
