I say "successfully" because there are so many horror stories on here about this progesterone. 

I'd like to know if anyone has been happy on it as continual HRT rather than cyclically.

I have been on 100mg every night (it has a sedative effect) for a few years. I wake around 5-6 hours after I have taken it feeling restless and furnace-hot. I use the Evorel patches rather than the gel but am going to explore this further. I am currently in the middle of a major (10 day bleed - we are talking heavy duty incontinence pad heavy) and the meno clinic doc said that is because the Utrogestan is not strong enough so I have been moved on to norethisterone. Other than the waking and rare big bleed I thought Utrogestan was okay but as I have never really been completely free of menopausal symptoms since starting hrt, I do wonder if the Utrogestan was causing any of them. I guess you have to give it a go for a month or two but I cannot say it has been horrendous.

SueLW, there are some women who manage to use Utrogestan for 25 days but it depends on how well you tolerate the progesterone part of HRT and you won't know until you try it.

FiGo, from what you have said, it sounds like a case of too much progesterone and not enough oestrogen.  Because you are taking Utrogestan every day, it is probably overly opposing the oestrogen and knocking out all the positive effects which is why you are still getting symptoms.  Also, as I said on your other thread, I think you would be much better with Oestrogel because you can easily adjust the dose to suit your needs and it is easier to absorb than patches for most people.  I used to use a patch similar to Evorel and it was completely useless and didn't provide anything like enough oestrogen - this was confirmed with blood tests.

Thanks to those who have answered my question.  I didn't get a notification and forgot to check.  Due to meno/hypo brain, I've just posted the exact same question on there forum again today!  No recollection whatsoever of having asked it a week or so ago!

I'm going to see if I can remove the repeat.
