Just a quick update on Lenzetto spray which I purchased recently in Spain.

It's quite a ingenious little thing and is designed in cone shape so none of the product escapes into the air when sprayed as you place it firmly on your skin and it's nearly dry by the time you lift it off your skin.

It's applied on the inner forearm between your elbow and wrist or can be applied on your thigh. I apply mine on my inner forearm close to my wrist.

For me it works exactly the same as gel I haven't noticed any difference whatsoever but I have only been using for about 4 weeks.

I would give serious consideration to swapping to this product when it's available on the NHS as there's no hanging around waiting for it to dry and none of the hassle of trying to remove the residue of patches etc and in my opinion  its a much more user friendly product.

Lanzalover x

That's interesting Lanzalover. So as well as it not spraying into the air, does the cone thing define the size of application area on your skin? If this is the case then this is a marked improvement over the gels where the size of area varies so much between women and it must be more difficult to know the size of area to spread or rub?

I think Lenzetto is a great product and I used it for over a year.

Unfortunately, due to migraines, I've had to go back to Oestrogel because my migraine specialist said the way the gel is absorbed makes it more stable but I'm an unusual case and this won't affect the vast majority of women.

If definitely worth trying.

I'd be interested to compare the absorption info from studies for both products to see when the systemic estradiol peaks etc are. Maybe I will have a look at some point.

Lanzalover did you change from gel to spray? I would be interested when it is available in UK to see how women fare changing from patch to spray because it is that settling in period I am loathe to go through at my age and stage - but it sounds very tempting :)

Good morning Hurdity

Yes the cone determines the exact size of application

Your second question is more difficult to answer

I must be one of the lucky ones because I switch from gel to patch all the time without any difference as I find when the grandchildren are here (youngest DGD stays here a lot)it's easier to use patches as there is no chance of skin to skin contact in the first hour especially in the summer months.
I'll also use patches if we're going away for a long weekend as I can stick it on and forget about it until we come home or if on holiday for a week or more as it's easier to pack patches.

Thinking back I would say since about June I have used patches about 70% of the time.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Hi Lanzalover - no that is very helpful actually! You are very lucky being able to switch from one to the other - I think I might still give it a go if I'm still taking hRT by the time it's launched here...and if my nice gynae GP will prescribe it....

I've just started to use Lenzetto this week with my Estradot patch.  Dr Newson said I need more oestrogen, I don't seem to absorb it well through my skin (my skin is very dry and takes ages to heal if damaged).  So I will continue with my 125 patch combination and work up to adding 2 sprays of the Lenzetto.  I'm on 1 spray at the moment.

Patches are better for me than gel because they are slow release.  And Lenzetto spray is also slow release according to Dr Newson.  The gel, much as I wanted to love it, gave me rushes, caused intense sweating on application sometimes and ran out before the end of the day.

So far so good.  It's very easy to use.  Dry in moments.

That's really interesting SueLW!
I am 63 and have just had a 2 month HRT break after being on 2 pumps oestrogel and 100mg utrogestan orally on a conti regime for 9 months. I decided to stop as my boobs were very achy / tender and was having some upper abdominal issues, just to see if it made any difference.

My boobs and stomach seem to have settled better, but I have now got the dreaded hot flushes back and all my bones are aching, so last week I got in in touch with my GP by phone to ask if I can swap my eostrogel for an estradot patch or even the Lenzetto spray. to see if makes any difference. (I was initially seen by a gynae Dr at my local meno clinic after being referred to them by my GP who said wasn't his area of expertise.....).
I also explained I was still under the Meno clinic, but they had cancelled appts due to the virus and was waiting to hear when appts would resume.

But I am really furious now 😫, as when they rang me back I was told that they wouldn't give me anything different to my current prescription, even though they had the letters from the original consultation and prescriptions from the gynae clinic. They hadn't even heard of Lenzetto spray and wouldn't change anything because I am over 60, I am at risk of breast cancer etc etc !!! It was a trainee GP at first on the phone who then asked my own GP for advice and it was him who refused and then the trainee rang me back to tell me!!! They even said they would have to refer me again to clinic, even though I had explained I was still under their care!!
What utter rubbish!! They are obviously still in the dark ages regarding current guidelines.

I have now restarted on my gel and utrogestan again anyway 5 days ago, as am fed up of feeling rubbish, but hot flushes have just gone more intense in last few days?? (Crikey what's that all about??) Still using 2 pumps gel and oral utro, am wondering whether to try vaginal utrogestan, but would rather wait to see clinic before I do?

I want to go onto FemSeven conti patches when they become available, as the Dr at Meno clinic suggested those at my initial appt, but obvs they were not available then.

Any thoughts/advice ladies?
Thanks

Hi everyone

I have started on Lenzetto this week after previously being on estrogel. I got on very well with estrogel but was switched to Lenzetto due to convenience and the fact I can get a higher dose easier.

I was previously on 4 pumps of gel (2 morning and 2 evening), so I’m on the equivalent of Lenzetto (2 sprays). I have been doing both the sprays in the morning. However, I’ve been doing both Lenzetto sprays in the morning.

Anyway I’ve been noticing a return in symptoms, aching joints, night sweats, dry eyes. I’m not sure if this is due to stopping the gel and I have to wait a few weeks for the Lenzetto to build up, or maybe it’s because I’m doing both sprays in the morning and it’s wearing off by the evening. I’m worried it might just not be working!!

Anyone have any experience of symptoms temporarily returning when switching to Lenzetto? (Or in fact another form of Estrogen).

Thanks  :) :)

Madge79,I don't know if this is any help but I had an oestrogen blood reading of 300 pmol on three pumps of Lenzetto but I was in the 800s on three pumps of gel.   I wrote to the manufacturers of Lenzetto and they said it is difficult to achieve very high blood levels of oestrogen with this product.

I'm now well post menopause and my optimum level of oestrogen is 300 pmol for health protection and to be symptom free but that level would have been useless for me 10 years ago.

You could try increasing to three pumps every day and see if that helps.

MaryG that’s really interesting!!! Thank you!
I’ll go to 2 sprays and give that a few weeks and see what happens! I was on 4 pumps of gel and was told I needed closer to 6! Was told that would be easier with Lenzetto as was equivalent to 3 sprays.
Might get a referral to menopause specialist and get oestrogen levels etc closely watched!
Thank you 😀

Well MaryG think you might be right as I spoke to my nurse and she said there should not been a settling in period it should have just kept me feeling the same. She has suggested I go back on the gel - I think I must absorb the gel more effectively.

I had high hopes for Lenzetto as it’s so convenient - oh well back to find enough space on my body to put on 5 or 6 pumps a day! 😂

The flushes are caused by the sudden reintroduction of the oestrogen.  They will settle.  You should probably have given yourself 1 pump a day for a few days first.  The gastro issues have to be from the Utro, so just take it vaginally.  It's no big deal at all and no GP will tell you do to that.  Hop into bed, shove it up as far as you can with your finger and an internal muscle tug if you can and forget it for the night.  I couldn't tolerate it at all orally but had very few issues vaginally.

Your surgery sound ridiculous.  They won't have heard of Lenzetto spray because it was only licensed in the UK in April, but it's there and they can prescribe it and it's been in use on the continent for years.

That's unfortunate.  You could have tried more sprays.  They seem to expect multiple uses.  Dr Newson told me to use up to 3 sprays a day ON TOP of my 125 Estradot patch.  At the moment I'm using 1 spray a day, just over a week in.  I can feel a difference.  Not a good difference yet, she did warn me I might feel worse first. It's definitely doing something.

I already use it vaginally I really couldn’t tolerate it orally whatsoever!

I was on 4 pumps of gel so went on to 2 sprays initially on consultants advice, she said there shouldn’t have been the need for any adjustment period at all. I went up to 3 sprays to see if that helped but was still getting flushes, night sweats, dry eyes, dry vagina etc and it was getting worse.

I’ve gone back to the gel; which I got on very well with but as I was likely to need 5-6 pumps of gel the Lenzetto was just going to be easier to achieve that with.

She has said a patch and then gel too might be easier to get a higher dose on.
