New to site and menopause help please
« on: April 09, 2018, 06:28:49 PM »

Hi this is my first time on the forum. I am 38 years old and after 2 years of irregular heavy periods, hot flushes, nite sweats, lack of labido and general crankiness I was diagnosed 2 months ago with the menopause. A doctor did blood tests, gave me some HRT and sent me off.I am on Elleste Duo 1mg tablets, half pack white tabs half pack green.... So since I have been on these my day hot flashes have stopped. However my nite sweats are worse, I have even less of a sex drive, I have gained a lot of weight which I believe is water retention as my carpal tunnel has returned. I feel terribly bloated, My mood is still very cranky and I have no energy at all..... many years ago I had to come off the mini pill as I was very sensitive to hormones.... does anyone have any advice please x

:welcomemm:  hormones are normal.  Without them we wouldn't function.  I don't understand that people are told that they are 'sensitive' to what is natural.  Unless the body starts working incorrectly, then we don't know there is a problem.

Browse round.  I am sure that someone will be along with advice.

Hi and welcome to MM Charlie

You ned to find a HRT that suits you better.  Elleste has the toughest progesterone. If your libido has dropped, and HRT as pills can do this, then why not try the combined patches OR have a Mirena fitted and use oestrogen as patch or gel - transdermal is usually better for libido.   The Mirena usually results in no bleeding at all, after a time, which can be a real plus!  Look under TREATMENTS on this site to see your options.  DG x
