Hi so I'm looking for advice please not sure if its a water infection or VA  playing up I've been on Vagifem since January using it twice a week now and elleste patches. Haven't felt well since Saturday feeling hot and a headache and feels so painful when having a wee feeling quite irritable too I've just taken two paracetamol. I had sex on Friday which was uncomfortable even when using sylk. Hope that's not to much detail just wondering do you think I should use the vagifem more than twice this week thanks

Nothing is too much detail.  Take a fresh urine sample to your Surgery and ask for it to be sent to a Lab. for testing.  In the meantime, use the Vagifem every night.  Some ladies require nightly application. O originally the product was marketed at 25 and now it's down to 10 which sometimes isn't enough to keep symptoms at bay.

Keep up the pain relief.  Prior to sex use a proper product such as KY Jelly.  Lots of!

Hi Juneo - VA doesn't give you a headache so it may be that you have an infection. Does your urine look cloudy or smell "off"?

Thankyou both for your replies, no my urine smells stronger than normal but not cloudy like it has been in the past when I have had infections that's why I'm thinking it's V A. I will definitely use the Vatican more do you think maybe every night for a week? Thank you both again x

My urine often smells of sulphur ......... at any time of day.

Juneo - get a urine sample to the GP for testing.  This dose sound as though it could be an infection if you are running a temperature.  Try drinking a glass of water with bicarb of soda in it ( just half a teaspoon) morning and night to neutralise teh urine. Avoid caffeine , fruit juices and alcohol but drink lots of water. 
SYLK may not be enough for sex - I use Durex PERFECT GLIDE which gives much better lubrication and only use SYLK as a daily moisturiser. I also use some Multi Gyn Actigel after sex in case the flora balance is effected and also to prevent infection taking hold. DG x

Just holding out a hand as I am going through it as well. I don't know whether I am coming or going with all the different treatments/self help things that I have tried. Azo ( ordered from amazon) has given me the most relief but it can only be used for 2 days. Take a sample before you use it though. Good luck

Hi dancing girl i a have taken a sample in to my doctors just have to wait or then to get back to me, I will try the bicarbonate Thank you i thought the full was enough for sex i didn't realise it was more of a moisturiser i did use to use ky but found i became irritated after sex, I will try the multi gyn actigel, i haven't heard of till now feeling fed up and sore thanks again for the advice x

Hi sidse I haven't been to bad a urine infection just after Xmas and new to the oestrogen patches, before starting the patches and vagifem i was having a couple of water infections a month just one after another but there again it may have been V A as well as urine infections in learning more since been on this site and having the great advice from the lovely ladies on here, the support on here is amazing x

The way to tell if urine is infected is for it to go to a Lab..  VA mimics infection-type symptoms.

 :-\been waiting all week for my urine sample results to come back numerous calls to my gp and finally a call back yes I have an infection and now starting nitrofuronton, I feel terrible hot and sick and very sore. Apparently water samples are now sent to a hospital out of the area i live in.
