My teenage age son was tested last year and found to have extremely low levels, in his boots according to paediatrician! When detected it was for screening for various health issues, but at the time he was depressed and very tired which I have found out since can be symptoms of low vitamin D.

I had 'couldn't be found' levels of vit D on a blood test. Had to take prescribed high doses for 7 weeks. Since then I have taken a 1000iu tablet every day.

Apologies to those of you who have read other threads where I have gone on (and on and on :D ) about my Vitamin D deficiency!

My deficiency was found after the Menopause Specialist I am seeing asked for my Vit D and B12 to be tested, as they felt some of my symptoms were not just related to menopause.
The list was varied- hair shedding, muggy head, concentration problems, dizziness, sweats, tinnitus, bleeding gums, joint/muscle pain, tendonitis, palpitations/high heart rate, fatigue, sleep problems, cravings, headaches, numb hands, flat mood and generally feeling ill.

The Specialist got me to a good steady Oestrogen level to rule out Menopause and the symptoms left were then something else.

My Vit D level was 29nmol/L at Christmas- I have used a high Vitamin D3 protocol and raised my level to 109 nmol/L. Some of the symptoms were better but the remaining symptoms- Fatigue, swimmy head, flat mood, high heart rate, numbness in hands  and ringing in the ears could be related to low B12.

So, although my B12 level was 443 (optimal is 600) my GP suggested treating the B12 to see if the remaining symptoms improve.
I have been taking B12 for a week so early days but think the heart rate issues have improved.

My current medication is 200mcg Estradot (3xweekly) 10 000 iu Vitamin D3 (daily), 500mg Magnesium Glycinate (daily), 5mg Vitamin K2(MK4) (daily) and 1200mcg B12 (daily).

I am feeling so much better but it is a work in progress.
Good luck x

Last year I found that after 20 mins. weeding I had to sit for 2 hours as I had no energy.  A blood test showed low levels of VitD so a course of capsules helped a lot.

Maybe take VitD capsules?  Absorbed differently  :-\ in correctly measured doses!

I had my gallbladder removed three months ago and was told that I could become vitamin deficient, due to the fact that some vitamins are fat soluble.  I have just started on a vitamin D spray so it goes straight into the bloodstream.  Read an article the other day that most people in this country are vitamin D deficient to a certain extent, due to the lack of sunshine.  Hope you feel better soon!

I started taking vit d regularly last year after I had finished the course of horse pills and for the first time ever, I've neither had cold nor flu this winter.  And none of the other viruses that are going the rounds.  Touch wood!
