Upset tummy after period
«
on:
March 31, 2018, 09:33:03 AM »
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone experiences stomach upset AFTER their period?
I have this time and have done in the past, I can't think of anything that has triggered it though.
I'd just like to know if anyone else experiences this?
Thanks

I used to get the runs with my period, but not after. Could be the same body chemistry though, just later.

I also used to get a runny tummy during my natural periods and still do, to a lesser extent, with my HRT period, but not after. I used to imagine the reason was because the period cramps somehow stimulated the lower bowel into more activity. Just a thought - does your diet change during your period? For example, do you eat more of certain types of foods? If so, that might be affecting your stomach x

Or could be pain killers, if you have to take them.

Hi,
I have had this happen a couple of times to me in the last 6 months or so. Always used to get a funny tummy in the days before my period so I knew it was coming, but more recently not had that. Have had my period just arrive then have had cramps like crazy, then day or so after I've finished the funny tummy has appeared. No idea what's caused it as nothing really different. I put I down to hormones fluctuating as they would have before period.

10 mins. B4 a bleed began, even if a period wasn't due, I would have 'the runs'. I would HAVE to find a loo immediately. Once the bleed began the bowel would settle.
Definitely hormonal. I would also cry lots the night B4, again even a period wasn't due ...... that way I knew to expect it the next morning!

Hi Ladies,
Thanks for your replies. I think it is hormonal, it's settled a little now. Also I always feel as flat as a pancake with no get up and go after a period. Doe any of you feel like this too?
Thanks

Wow yes, during the last couple of years of peri I would get crushing fatigue with every period. It would wipe me out totally and all I wanted to do was lay down.

Oh this takes me back. A sudden thirst the night B4 a bleed: if Mum had celery in the fridge kept in water I would eat stalks and stalks of it! Sudden tiredness. Aching legs. Tears++ the night B4.
In peri I had sudden attacks of nausea
....... Life became very narrow as I feared going anywhere in case ..........

I just feel so rubbish today, woke up with irrational anxiety, upset tummy. Progesterone due tonight so I will see if this changes things.

Hi CLKD,
Here it is:
PMT before period - fatigue after - mood lifts.
Or
No PMT before period - comes during or after period - lasts untill Utrogestan is due - sometimes settles up until period.
I never have twos months the same, sometimes the Utrogestan does chill me out a little and I feel better on it, sometimes I just feel horrendous.
I suppose my own hormones rise and fall still? I have no idea, stupid hormones!
I hope this makes sense.

Makes a lot of sense which is why our Grandmothers called it 'the change'
Bugga ............ sounds 'normal' but that doesn't help how you feel!
