Femoston 1/10 update
« on: March 05, 2018, 09:10:40 AM »

Hello ladies,
My first post was last November when I began hrt. I felt so much better after only three weeks, no more hot flushes, night sweats, anxiety etc. But alas, I now fear the wheels are falling off. During my fourth month of taking Femoston 1/10 my period arrived on day six of the progesterone tabs and continued for ten days. A few days later I experienced a week of brown spotting (apologies), although minimal. The following month my period arrived as expected, at the end of the progesterone phase. This was heavy with clots (again, apologies). This month I am spotting (sometimes bright red, sometimes pinky/brown) on the oestrogen tabs. My flushes have returned along with the night sweats and those awful feelings you get when your levels plummet.
My plan is to continue with the Femoston 1/10 for a further six weeks whereby I will reach six months. And, if things haven't settled, back to my GP.  Oh the joys!

Hi Maple
Your experiences are normal for the peri meno phase.  What has probably happened is that your ovaries have had a bit of a ‘gasp' and pumped out more oestrogen and this would throw things out a bit and cause some erratic bleeding.  Don't worry, as you get deeper into the menopause this should settle. If flushes have returned then you may need to up the dose of Femoston because your levels have done a big drop.  DG x

Hello DG,
Thank you so much for responding. The menopause is such a challenge, isn't it? My last natural period was July last year, I'm fast approaching 58 and just longing to see the light at the end of the tunnel!
Kindest regards,

Hello ladies,
Here we go again! Ended up in A&E with severe pain, right side, waist area. After a pelvic exam and a very thorough prodding of my torso I was given heavy duty pain killers for ? gall bladder. Advised to see GP.
I am, or rather was, on Femoston 1/10 (day 8 of the oestrogen tabs of my 6th pack - so in 3 weeks time I would have completed 6 months on hrt). For the last 5 weeks I have been spotting almost daily before and after the withdrawal bleed and my GP suggests I stop the hrt to see what happens without hrt. Unfortunately, my peri symptoms have been creeping back over the same timeframe and now they are here with a vengeance. In the meantime l am to have bloods (LFT and LDH), TVS, scan to check thickness of womb lining and last but not least scan re gall bladder.
Anxiety levels?.... I don't want to go there!!!
