Feeling rubbish
« on: June 08, 2018, 01:02:00 AM »

It's been a rotten week for me. Lots of things going on beyond my control, and I am still sleeping poorly despite the advice I was given on another thread I started. Feeing overwhelmed is a terrible state to be in. Just wanted to get that off my chest ladies  :'(

Oh Mrs Bella, I'm sorry to hear that. Having experienced poor sleep myself I know how hard it is. I went to a “managing sleep” course provided by the local mental health services. I've also tried an online sleep course which helped a bit but is very strict. Have you tried that?
I've read tips from different professional sleep experts (doctors), one says stay in bed and do mindfulness if you wake in the night, the other says get up and go and do something non-stimulating like reading! I was doing mindfulness meditation for over an hour in the middle of the night. Still didn't work!
The fluoxetine has really helped me though. Have you considered a higher dose of your Valdoxan?

Hi Wilks!
I have never heard of online sleep courses. What one did you complete?
I have tried both those approaches too. Neither seem to work/help.
I spoke to my doctor about my meds today. She wants me to stay on what I am on, and she doesn't want to adjust dosages. I would love to start all over again but deep down know I have to let the meds reach their full effect. I hope they do soon as the lack of sleep, and now panic attacks are getting worse  :'(

Hi mrs Bella
I too have had trouble sleeping, I was awake nearly all night
Night before last, was knackered, still couldn't sleep.
I seem to go through cycles, a couple weeks being able to sleep,
then a couple weeks not. It drives me mad.cant seem to figure out why.

That's me too. I probably should keep a record of my sleep patterns. I have bouts of insomnia. They drive me nuts as I walk around during the day like a zombie. I nearly pulled out in front of another car today. It gave me a hell of a fright. Being so sleep deprived I would have thought my body would give up and let me rest. Thanks Jillydoll for responding! Night, night...I hope it's a good one for me. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Hi jillydoll,

you mentioned that your insomnia goes in 2 week cycles and that made me wonder if you are on cyclical HRT is it related to where you are in that cycle? My insomnia is awful when I use progesterone. Just a thought

Hi Mrs Bella
I took the Sleep Station program online. Had to pay for it though. It was pretty good but it involves sleep restriction which I found really hard- like torture!
Sleepio is another popular one.

Thank you Wilks!
Golly Sleep Station sounds hardcore being a 6 week program. I will look into both those courses. I wish there were Sleep Schools for adults. I took my son to a Sleep School when he was 9 months old as I had no idea what I was doing. I have to do something: I went to bed at 9:30pm, woke at 1am, back to sleep at 3pm and then wide awake at 5pm. I am absolutely shattered today  :(
