Not good to use the HRT without medical advice.  What progesterone did this lady give you - out of interest?

Did your GP say how long to would take for the hospital to get back to them? Why not ring the surgery on Monday, tell them you are in a lot of discomfort and need some help a.s.a.p.

Another alternative is to do an email consultation with Dr Currie - it only costs £25 - and you could see what she advises and possibly discuss this with you GP? She may at least be able to reassure your GP that Vagifem would be OK.

Thank you DG.

I must have spoken to my GP about four times at least last week about it so I will give them a few days. I feel like I'm bothering them constantly. I'm in hospital tomorrow anyway.

She gave me two boxes of crinone. It looks like individual measures that go into the vagina.

I haven't read all the responses but feel that in general, there is no longer joined up thinking across the NHS.  Years ago one would be referred by a GP to the speciality required, if something else was found the patient would go from that particular Clinic to the next appropriate specialist.  No going back to the GP in between!!  Consultants suggested tests and if necessary surgery or treatment which would be via the GP surgery.

Could you ring the Secretary [we don't bite ;-) ] of the Consultant who treated you at the Royal Lond? explain when you were seen etc. and ask her to ask your Consultant what is recommended.  Why can't your GP ring the Hospital whilst you are in the appt., or after Surgery then get back to you.  It's easier now that it ever was 'in my day'  >:( with e-mail etc., it's almost as though various medics are afraid to speak to other medics..   If GPs took more effect you would both know what is what!!

Crinone is ???

Treatment for vaginal atrophy is localised.  I had breast disease and my GP never hesitated in prescribing appropriate treatment for symptoms which felt like razor blades up there  :o - quality of Life, Girls, quality of Life ;-)

Finally got the oestrogel from the pharmacist (given by GP) but no progesterone from the GP. So I'll go ahead and use the Oestrogel and see if the GP gets back to me about the progesterone.

Went back to hospital yesterday and the tumour on the left is now 9cm, so it has grown.

You must speak with your GP about the progesterone  - this will be very important. You'll need Provera or Utrogestan for at least 10 days each month. DG x

The hospital has given me premique low dose tabs (take one a day every day) and sylk.

Does anyone else take premique? I'd love to hear others experiences.

Well it's good that the hospital is allowing you HRT despite your problems and hopefully you will feel better.

This is one of the old-fashioned types of HRT made from horse urine and contains equine oestrogens - a mix of oestrogens which are mostly different from ours - as well as a synthetic progestogen. It is also a continuous combined HRT which means you take the same amount of each hormone every day and is a "no-bleed" HRT. You did say you wanted to go back to a cycle and this tablet won't do this. Could it be the hospital have recommended a conti type specifically because of your condition?

Most of us on here would recommend Femoston rather than this one because it contains bio-identcial oestrogen ( estradiol) and a progestogen that is very close ot our own progesterone ( dydrogesterone) - although it only exists in a low-dose as a conti HRT (1 mg) whereas cyclical Femoston is available as 2 mg oestrogen as well as  1 mg.

We also usually recommend starting HRT in the cyclical form ( ie gives a bleed) to see how you get on with the progestogen in that particular preparation, and how you feel on the oestrogen alone. Otherwise it's tricky to work out what is suiting you or not!

Good luck with it anyway if you decide to try it and hope you feel better soon. Also you may well need vagonal oestrogen in addition  to systemic HRT (the tablet) to make you feel comfortable so don't hesitate to go back for this if possible and you feel you need it.

Thank you yes, the gynae consultant put me on this. I have three months of tablets and then to rescan my tumour and to see the consultant again in 6 months. I had to take the info to the GP to actually get it, and asked for an internal cream when I did, she gave me sylk, (not the hosp consultant) and said I wouldn't need any more hormones. Only been on it for a couple of days but find i'm rushing to the loo and I have some abdominal cramping. Wondering if that's just co-incidental. I did tell them I'd rather have a monthly cycle but this is what they gave me.
