Anyone Recognise This Pattern?
« on: February 05, 2018, 06:30:04 PM »

Hello ladies.

I seem to have fallen into a pattern with my meno symptoms and wonder if any of you have had something similar?

I've never had much sweating but I do have intense feelings of heat and panic that seem to come from my stomach/abdomen/chest and instead of progressing to a flush they seem to loiter for ages before gradually fading. I  then feel better and a little calmer before I notice the sensations building and the whole process begins again. This happens throughout the day, averaging about every four hours until late in the evening when they stop altogether  by which time I am thinking about going to bed.

My question is do any of you experience a similar ebb and flow of hormones at regular intervals during the day and if so how do you cope with the rising panic especially if, like mine it hangs around for a while.

I am post meno and taking Tibolone but I seem to be stuck with these power surges which are exhausting plus I don't seem to be dealing with them very well so any advice is welcome.

Thank you for reading and I look forward to your comments as always.

Wishing everyone well.

Did you talk to your doctor about changing your hrt? Are you sticking with Tibolone?

Even if I know the reason/s why I feel physical it doesn't stop the horror of those feelings! ........ and breath.  Sometimes it helps  :-\.  Is it a similar time of day, could it be related to low blood sugar, diet, hunger ..........

Hello Dotty.

Yes, I have an appointment with my lovely GP but the earliest I can see him is the beginning of March. I've found a private gynecologist in a nearby town so I might try and see her soon.

Thank you for your interest and take care.

Hi

You're describing exactly what I experience and it's what finally pushed me into going to see the doctor because for me, it's the worst symptom.  I visualise it as a massive adrenalin rush into my belly.  I get them at night as well and it wakes me up.  One of the 3 doctors I saw (I got pushed around from one to another) suggested anti - depressants and talk therapy for my 'panic attacks'.  I couldn't seem to make her understand it was a physical thing, not emotion-led. It starts in the stomach, not in the head.  I tried to explain what it's like by asking if she'd ever lost a child in a crowd or had a very near miss in the car when you experience that terrible feeling of dread and your stomach contracts and heaves and then after that, the emotions and panic come in.  That's what it feels like for me.

As for how I cope, I've had enough daytime ones now to be able to stay calm and wait for it to pass, knowing it will pass.  But I find it so terrifying at night (as I said they wake me up and I am convinced something terrible has happened or is about to happen)  that I've fought for and got HRT now.  This is my first week.  I've had one daytime 'attack' in the past 4 days and one at night. It's a great improvement on the past few weeks.  It may be a coincidence with starting the HRT but maybe the HRT ia already helping - I'm not sure.

I'm too much of a newbie to suggest a way forward for you but going to the doc (eventually) got me the medication I believe will help and if it doesn't I plan to keep going back until it's sorted.  Best wishes to you x

Hello Tiddles.

I used to get the stomach adrenaline surges in the morning, they would wake me up and seem to travel up and down my body going through my chest then stomach then bowels before returning to my chest. I never believed that they were prompted by my conscious thoughts because a few moments prior I had been fast asleep!  Thankfully they have gone now and the surges I experience these days are milder.

Hopefully your HRT will be strong enough to deal with them and do please keep us updated as I'm sure many ladies will be interested in your progress.

Take care.
