Off the pill
« on: February 02, 2018, 12:36:43 AM »

I was initially put on the pill(Microgynon 30) to help ease the strange period symptoms I'd been having. It seemed to help so I was happy with it, didn't need it for contraception as not in a relationship. Then docs gave me a different brand and I've never been rightsince. After trying to go back on Microgynon it just hasn't worked as it was before and all the weird symptoms have gone into overdrive. As a result I've made the decision to come off it and see where my cycle and symptoms are without it. Docs are adamant my symptoms aren't peri menopause but I'm adamant they are.
My question is.. what do I do now? Been off pill for 3 weeks but symptoms keep coming adding new ones. I know it could take a while to see what's actually happening in bloods if it does actually show.
Am I best to try a different birth control? possible new relationship on the horizon ? HRT?
Just fed up feeling so yucky!
Am taking vit d, evening primrose oil, multi vitamins.

Hi, im just wondering if you have tried another pill or not? I'm just after starting my third month of one similar to the one you were on just goes by the name microlite-it's a lower dose one I think. Its helped in some ways but nothing major so i'm thinking of going on a higher one but not sure. It's been an awful experience so far.  :'(

Hi Peri.
No as yet I haven't started on another pill, main reason being I was told they couldn't do blood tests till I'd been off the pill 6-8 weeks! So I'm struggling to persevere that long! Have to say I'm not finding it easy, some symptoms are just in overdrive. My temperature is fluctuating,my cramps are worse..as yet haven't had a period so can't say how they may be changed. Feel like I need to go into something for the other symptoms, read about a couple of pills recommended on this site. I don't know how much longer I can keep going with nothing.
When I first started Microgynon it was great for symptoms, really helped and I felt “normal”. But then a different doc did my repeat and I'm sure as a cost cutting exercise he gave me the different brand(apparently exactly same ingredients and dosage) but it just made me back to square 1. Persevered for 2 months but was missing work due to symptoms, so asked to go back in Microgynon .. that was a challenge in itself as doc was adamant it wasn't different! Well my body thought differently. Anyways.. was back on it 6minths I think and it's never gone back to how it used to work and my peri symptoms are haywire. Missing work and get together as feel so yucky.
I'd go talk to doc and see if they can help with some other pill. Good luck.
I'm back to docs this week I think.

Your needs may change as you progress through peri.  I've just had to come off ovranette which has worked fine for me for ages but suddenly started to feel really ill with it.  Not feeling great off it, but better than I was on it!

As I mentioned on your other thread I think you should ask you doctor for blood tests to make sure you haven't got an underlying infection of some kind. It is not normal for temperature to fluctuate due to menopause. Yes, you may feel hot but your temperature should remain within normal limits. A raised temperature is a sign that the body is fighting infection somewhere. This could be why you are feeling so tired and horrible. I hope the doc listens. Keep a diary of when your temperature is raised and how high it is going. Do you have to take something to bring it down again? Sometimes an upper urinary tract infection can be to blame. As we get further into menopause we often don't get any cystitis type symptoms to warn us  - just vague unwell feelings.

I hope you soon get the help you need. It's so debilitating to feel ill all of the time.
