Newbie anger help
« on: January 24, 2018, 12:54:39 AM »

Hello
I am new to the forum but am I glad I found you all and hope I can benefit from your wisdom.

I don't know where to turn.  I am.50 years old and have been taking hrt (Elleste) for about 8 months I think.... ha ha and there lies another problem my memory is shot at. Someone can tell me something and within second s I've forgotten what they've said is this normal???? Is there anything I can do to improve this? This is starting to affect my work. I exercise at least 3-4 times a week however I must admit my diet could be better. . Am working on that one.

The main problem I am having is low mood and and the anger and rage I feel most of the time internally is nothing I have ever experienced. I have lost a good friend and recently a partner over this. most of the time I can contain it but then someone just has to say the wrong thing and I flip!!!

My periods have changed and in the last 2 months I have had one period that lasted 9 days and then the following month I bled for 5 days then stopped for a week then bled again for another 4 days. It's this normal?

I called the doctor 4 months ago as I was experiencing extreme emotional problems a week before my period was due as just couldn't stop crying. He suggested anti depressants but I decided to try evening primrose oil and vit D which helped. I didn't have much faith in the doc though.

I have just been on another date but am worried about getting involved as my last partner said I scared him... I am normally a very placid kind person who gets on with everyone but an fearful of having no-one if I carry on like this. Sadly both my Mum and sister have passed away with brain haemorrhage so no family support available.

I hope some of you wise ladies can shed some light on my emotional mess...

HORMONES  >:(  ::)

:welcomemm: browse round.  Make notes.  Maybe keep a mood/food/symptom diary to chart if there is a pattern to this.

Your GP was correct in offering anti-depressants if you told him/her that you were weepy.  Not many think outside the box despite efforts by various UK organisations to educate GPs  :bang: and consider that ladies may well have underlying hormonal issues leading up to The Change.

I had really bad rages prior to a bleed.  What wouldn't usually upset me, 4-5 days prior to starting a period, would cause me to really get nasty.  This would stop once the period began.  Keeping a diary meant that in the main, I would be aware .......

My periods waxed and waned for 2-3 years.  I wouldn't bleed for months then would get several 'normal' periods.  Then it stopped.

As oestrogen levels drop, the body may become dry: inside and out - skin, nostrils, deep in the ears, eyes, vagina  :o as well as the muscles may become lax = aches and pains.  Did both your Mum and sister have brain haemorrhage? in which case, your GP should consider referring you for appropriate investigation and support.

We have a thread: doing stupid things: and "There's a Strange Woman in my House" - so you are not alone in having a fuzzy brain .......

Hi alpaca, just to let you know elleste sent me into rages also and my moods were horrendous. Would seriously suggest asking to trial maybe femoston hrt as it's a much kinder progesterone and sounds like just what you could benefit from. Have a look in the treatment tab above on the forum and maybe print out to take to your gp. You have the right to ask to trial a different type. Give it 3 months to see if it works.
We don't have to suffer like this.
Good luck. X

Thank you so much for your reply and help.

I just caught get overt how snappy i am.  I was awful you a colleague at work when she mentioned something i wasn't happy about.  I apologised afterwards and lucky she is lovely and understood when i explained.  Lost a relationship too, mind you he was texting another woman so he probably deserved it!!

It's good to hear that this particular HRT has affected other people.  Will have a look at your recommendations and i am seeing the doctor next week so will take it along.

Big hugs too you all x

I remember well how I would fly off the handle pre-menstrually.  I caused a lot of upset, mainly to myself as I still have guilt about the anger directed at DH when he really didn't deserve it. It doesn't help the guilt that he tells me that he can't remember those temper tantrums  :'( I wake in the night with a guilty lurch.

As for the 'friend' - well ditched I think  ;)

Thanks you CLKD.  It just seems my life has gone off the rails.  I recently got divorced, my decision but ever since the menopause symptoms have started I have lost a relationship and what i thought was a good friend of 35 years!  My ex said he was shocked when I snapped, I was stressed about a job i was working on, but he was just talking about women being 'fit'!  I know I am better off without him, but i am scared to get involved again with anyone due to my shortness.

I will see what he doctor says and mention femoston to my doctor to see if that will help.

Life can be so complicated, but glad I have a little dog who I adore who keeps me sane...

Thank you for your kindness.

New here too!
Are dry eyes and nostrils really a thing? And is there anything anyone has found that can stop it?
Thanks
