Anyone had it. It is supposed to be rampant but I don't know anyone that's had it.  Is it being over hyped by the press do you think?

Probably.   A friend has had an awful cold followed by a cough for 3 weeks and was in bed for 4/5 days as she felt really tired.

Himself was brewing something yesterday, fortunately 'it' has taken itself off elsewhere in the night.  I think a lot of hype is because people end up at an already stretched A&E Dept. where they should stay at home unless they have under-lying health issues, i.e. asthma, diabetes.

I think that we should stock up on 'remedies', remembering of course NOT to take products with Paracetmol in together, i.e. Lem-sip and other medicines.  It is easy to over-dose and it can be fatal.

Lots of towels and flannels to hand to wipe down anyone with a temperature.  BOIL everything: sheets, flannels, towels, nighties etc. if anyone even as much sniffles ;-)

I know lots of people that have had it. Never known it as bad as this.
Know of 4 people who have been put on steroids as it has turned to pneumonia.

I developed a similar cold last week and was off work for 3 days. I still haven't got over it fully. Several of my colleagues have had it too. I don't know of anyone with the full blown flu.

We have often joked at work that women have a common cold and men have the flu! I think a lot of people confuse a cold with flu. I remember when my mother had flu and she could not get out of bed for a fortnight and could barely walk to the bathroom.

Some of my family members have been very ill over xmas with lingering coughs/colds etc. I don't know anyone that has had full blown flu this winter nor do I know anyone who has had the horrific 'Aussie Flu' but there have been many reports of young people dying from it which worried me somewhat when my daughter felt a bit fluey but within a few days she felt OK again!

I had 'flu in March 1989 and March 1990.  Both times I went to bed feeling OK. Woke the next morning unable to lift my head from the pillow.  Couldn't bear light.  Couldn't think straight.  Hot/cold/ached all over/hot/cold - had to be helped to the bathroom and held up until I had finished.  Both times the virus lasted 3/4 days.  I felt so weak for a while after.

When Himself had 'flu I had to 'phone the surgery to find out how to look after him as he hadn't been ill, ever.

I think the spread is very regional.  Perhaps my area just hasn't been very badly affected. Yet ::)

Nellie Noo - plenty of day-time TV to watch  ;)  :foryou:

Apparently if one has 'flu and is told that there is a £50 note across the room on the floor, it would remain there  :D

A colleague at work was in bed for 2 weeks with flu over new year.  She's a tough cookie who never takes time off.   The rest of us at work just got heavy colds, I have the flu jab because of asthma and so glad I do as 9 years ago I lost 3 months due to flu and double pneumonia x
