Feel like running
« on: January 21, 2018, 11:19:37 PM »

I really feel like running away sometimes. I have completely lost myself.

I used to feel a bit confident but now I am easily irritable, feel like everyone is against me and I have changed beyond recognition.

Anxiety has a massive grip on me. I'm 41 but would say I've been having peri symptoms for the last nearly five years even though I'm still fairly regular at the moment. From flashes, to a night sweat, to itching, to dizziness and lightheaded, to nausea, to extreme pms crying one minute angry the next, to depression, to diarrhoea every period, to spotting/light bleeding 10 or 14 days after my period (which causes me huge health anxiety) I would say I'm truly losing my mind.

I don't have any friends and feel lost inside myself. I have a great partner and daughter who I love but I'm so irritable with them that I feel even worse about myself.

Trying to hold down a high flying career too and be a Mom is impossible, I just feel like a failure.

I'm scared and anxious all the time. Then I google spotting and it makes me even more anxious. I literally can't wait for menopause!

I'm not really making any point I suppose just desperately hoping I'm not alone in how I'm feeling (although obviously sorry if any of you have felt this way too) - I just feel so lost 😩

No Starla, you are not alone. It is incredible how powerfully hormones affect us at this stage in our lives.

I am 43 and have a lovely husband and daughter and it so horrible to feel so anxious and low when I have everything I ever wanted. The feeling of having lost myself is also very painful.

I am hoping I am seeing light at the end of the tunnel at the moment. I am on an antidepressant and HRT although it's still early days for the HRT (5 weeks).

I am learning to take very good care of myself when I can (sleep, meditation, exercise, contact with friends) but when my symptoms have been at their most debilitating I have had to take things one day, one hour and sometimes one minute at a time.

There is help out there. Do you feel comfortable with your GP? Also how do you feel about HRT?

You will get through this and you don't have to travel alone. Xxx

When anxiety strikes I either curl into a ball or want to run and run and .........

How is your diet?  Keep well hydrated.  If you can, do some gentle exercise daily.  Have a browse at the green banner 'treatments' above.  Make notes!

As oestrogen levels drop the muscles may become lax = aches and pains as well as the body may get dry: inside and out  >:(.  Deep in the ears, vagina, skin, nostrils, eyes ........

You have friends here  ;)

Hello Starla 76.

As you can see MM ladies completely understand how you are feeling, you are not alone.

I agree that you should also ask your doctor for the help that you need just as many of us have.

As CLKD says, you have friends here and I hope that's a comfort to you at this horrible time.

Take care and keep posting.

Hello I am 44 and can completely relate to this. I remember having my 43rd Birthday and my kids made me a cake and I just felt cross they had made a mess!!! I have felt totally out of my comfort zone. I had severe anxiety that left me feeling terrified in my own bed at night and I had to take time off work last year. I also had a career in which I was struggling to keep going in. I had irrational thoughts and lost all confidence. I have not felt like me for almost a year I don't know where my sparkle has gone but it is what it is so I'm not fighting it. I take time to relax I eat well , I exercise and get rest. I don't drink anymore and get out walking. I am also having acupuncture. The doctor prescribed me sertraline and after talking to my friend who is a psychiatrist he said why would you not take an anti depressant if you were diabetic you would take medication. I have to say this has eased the anxiety so much. It is a battle alright but you are not alone. X

Hi Starla! I'm 42 and can relate. I diagnosed with early menopause 6 months ago and I felt like a failure. I didn't recognize myself anymore, I wanted to give up my career and had suisidal thoughts. I'm on hrt and it helps a lot. I try to cope with my daily programm and my training and my job helps a lot. I had no idea about meno and its consequences. You are not alone! 🌹

Thank you all - although I am sorry you are going through it too.

I have always been a worrier but it really started with health anxiety as different changes happened - I had a night sweat and then my armpits were itching for a time so that really set me off googling and stressing myself out.

I don't know if anyone else has this but I seem to have phases of symptoms?

Like sometimes hot flashes with dizziness and nausea, sometimes itching? I've had exzema for the first time since I was a little girl!

I think it's the periods being all weird too that sets me onto google and freak out. I've had long ones, short ones, mid cycle brown coloured or pink coloured spotting, ones that are heavier, ones that are light - it's just so scary.

Then I google and well, instant stress. I talk to my Mom who had similar as did her Mom - and she was a similar age.

I keep mentioning it to the doctors but they're very dismissive - I think I will insist of the hormone test next time.

I've been referred for counselling as I feel the depression has really got a grip on me.

My diet isn't too bad but could be better - I'm really trying as I have gained weight which also affects my confidence. I've just started to walk one mile per night to try and get exercise in too.

Thank you all for listening  :)
