Chatty thread - best Christmas present?
« on: December 28, 2017, 11:36:16 AM »

We seem to be a bit scarce on chatty threads this year so I thought I would start one! So:
What was the best Christmas present you got this year?

Mine was a pair of top of the range secateurs which I bought myself! Can't wait to use them!

A doll's pram with twin hoods when I was 5. No present has ever topped the excitement I felt creeping downstairs before anyone was up to find it under the tree which was magically twinkling in the light of the coal fire.

I see those prams at antique fairs etc. Taz2 - something I wanted too, but was given an child's pram at age 8 ........ it held a lot more than the twin one would have done  ::)

My very own transistor radio when I was a young teenager. Still remember the excitement of secretly listening to Luxemburg underneath the bedcovers. I felt so grown up.

I can't even remember Her name salad I called all my dollies looby loo,i was a big watch with mother fan, teddy Andy pandy and looby loo.
When I was very young I took her to the play park and I wanted a go on the swings so buried her in the sand pit so I wouldn't drop her,I never did find her again I was heartbroken and my backside was sore for a week after when I told my dad what I'd done.

Ahhh those were the days  ;D
I had an Andy Pandy costume (my mum was a dab hand with the sewing machine).
My favourite Watch with Mother, but can't remember the name, was the girl who had a flower on her dress ? Busy Lizzie.

Sorry about the backside but I'd like to think that your loss of a treasured doll was someone else find of the day  :)

Oh Daisydot that has brought back a memory for me. I had one of those hard bodied dolls whose limbs were fastened inside by elastic bands. I called her Lindy. I buried her in my garden to hide her from my brother and forgot all about her. When I dug her up, all the elastic bands had perished and her arms and legs fell off!

 😂😂😂

Well looking back I wasn't a good mother to my dolls.  I took a similar doll to school with me and a friend and I were playing in the playground and she told me to throw the doll over my head to her and she would catch it.  Guess what - she ran off and the doll smashed to bits on the ground!
