Men!
« on: December 17, 2017, 06:16:09 PM »

Hi ladies,
I'm going through a blip at the moment, my once patient and reassuring other half isn't so anymore.
I think he thought peri meno would only last a while, it's been a few years now and I think HE'S fed up with it!
I feel so delicate at the moment, my anxiety is high, and I have low mood, I've also broken up from work for Christmas. I'm out of my usual 'work' routine and this usually throws me for a while as I go through the 'not sure what to do now phase'.
He snaps at me as if he's going through the change, not me and everything is my fault because of the way I 'am'!
I've tried to talk to him and explain how I feel but to now avail, I just want my loving, caring, patient and reassuring man back.
Any tips? I feel so sad.
Is this normal 'man' behaviour?

Yep.  Sometimes.   It's The Change.  Which many women and some men really don't 'get'!  Maybe print off the page for 'men' from here?  Some get scared when their sensible, loving, capable woman disappears!

We can't help what we go through.  HORMONES  >:(

Shellb - he's human - there is only so much a person can cope with. I can't remember what you are doing to help with your peri meno symptoms?  Are you taking HRT? If your symptoms are making things tough for him, then it's time to get something done. If HRT isn't for your, then maybe and SRRI is something to consider. He needs the lovable YOU back.  Is he going through any difficulties himself?
Put yourself in his shoes. What would you feel like if you lived with someone who is up and down the time? If you are impatient and difficult to live with, then this will take its toll on the relationship.
Perhaps use this time off work to focus on what he wants. He needs to know you still love him. DG x

Hello Shellb.

Men are simple creatures and there is much they don't understand, bless 'em. Mind you this doesn't stop them claiming to know it all! My husband often comments that he understands everything about the menopause because of the things I tell him, what he doesn't appreciate is how this hormonal rollercoaster actually feels!

I don't have any real insights I'm afraid but I've found having a sense of humour and using it daily helps a little.

Wishing you well.

Could there be something else going on? Maybe he's worried about something and doesn't feel he can discuss it because you aren't well.
