Silver hallmarks anyone?
«

Hello!
Hoping there might be someone here who knows something about hallmarks, or can direct me to somewhere I can find out. I've googled, but not getting much info.
I've found a load of silverware at Mums house, in the loft. Including a lovely set of ten teaspoons and sugar tongs which are hallmarked...and I'm sure they are not plated. Hallmark looks like a Crown (Sheffield) a Lion passant, and the year is a strange ‘t' with a hook on the bottom like an anchor, but it's not an anchor! Lower case t can be 1911 which could be right...
Can anyone help

Many thanks!

Thanks Liinsey!
I have had a look on that site, and a few others...but cannot seem to find the ‘t' I am looking for - or the combination of marks to give me a year and approx value
Thanks for helping!

Thanks all!
I still can't get a definite on what year this silver is from.
Two Hoots....I think it could be 1911, But I can't decide if it's a t or i.
CLKD...I did post a couple of pics of the hallmark on my first post....is this enough to show him indoors, or will I pm you?
Thanks

Hello Sweetpea,
If you click the link above you will see it's a ‘t', 1911.

Silver is silver.
OK - didn't get the link first time around.
Lion is the mark for sterling/solid silver
Sheffield
C J & C Ltd
Date mark is 'f' which we need to look for
If you look in the Sheffield area for C J & C Ltd. you may find when the Company was established and who owned it. We spend a lot of time in Castleton so you may get some help from a jeweller there, my interest is Blue John ;-)

silver plate - A1 or EPNS, or EP .......
What you won't get is a Lion on plated cutlery etc.. Lion is the guarantee of silver quality. Continental hallmarks however
Take photos and we can go through them .......... some silver is sold for scrap which means it may or not be melted. Dealers at Auction will have set a price to allow for their margins ......... but if it turns out to be unusual there are probably collectors 'out there'.

Wow! Connolly thanks, you are a detective!!! I have been googling for ages and could not come up with a similar hallmark. You are right...the ‘t' and the other hallmarks are exactly the same as on my spoons!
1911 and no epns....so could be solid silver spoons and tongs!?
