Last meal before utrogestan
« on: November 17, 2017, 07:51:15 PM »

I have just started utrogestan last night but didn't realise it had to be taken on an empty stomach, why is that and how long after last meal should it be taken ?
My flushes are much better and my aches seem to be improving too I'm less stiff. :)

Either hour before of two hours after , it won't work correctly re absorption.

Some ladies use it vaginally.

I take it orally on alternate nights around 9/10 o'clock. I don't worry about the time I ate (or drunk alcohol for that matter). I have read somewhere on here that there is very little difference in terms of how long after a meal.

I take Utrogeston orally every night and I'm always eating after it! It's never made any difference whether I do or not.

Thanks ladies you have put my mind at rest
Had a good sleep and best of all woke up this morning without the churning stomach, first time in nearly 3 year. Im confused as i thought the progesterone was the baddie hormone.

It's not the baddie hormone for everyone, the chances are the women who are feeling good on it aren't discussing it! I personally haven't had one side effect from it and I take it continuously.

I think the seditive calming effect can work straight away, well I did for me! Fingers crossed you continue to improve. Are you taking an oestrogen too?

Yes im on 2 pumps of oestrogel which I split 1 morning and 1at night.
Too think I was scared to take the first dose too after reading a lot of the posts on here, it just goes to show how different we all are and what works for one may not work for another x

I wouldn't want to be without it, I just wouldn't sleep & it definitely improves the anxiety I had. My aunt takes it too & she hasn't had any side effects. I know some women can't tolerate it so I'm grateful I can as usually I'm very sensitive to medication! Long may it continue for you. X

I had a spell of oestrogen on its own (9 weeks) in order to sort out the right dose and mood was still flat, but on introducing utrogestan my mood lifted fairly soon after.  Convinced it was the prog.

It's good to hear how it works well for you ladies, it gives me hope.
I think I will do a bit reading about progesterone and what it does apart from the obvious. Didn't have such a good night last night as I was woken by cat, so I'm a bit ropey this morning. Will make sure tonight she goes out before bed or will put ear plugs in lol  :cat88:

I hope you don't mind me asking Otes73, is it just for sleep that you take the progesterone continuously and what dose?

I take utrogestan 200mg vaginally for a week - it doesn't help me sleep but when I stop it I do feel anxious, especially 4 days later when I bleed.
Perhaps it the loss in progesterone that makes me anxious?
