Femoston 2/10mg - bleeding stopped
« on: October 30, 2017, 10:51:48 PM »

Hi,

I'm 26, and I'm on HRT due to having chemo and being in early menopause. I've been on femoston 2/10mg for roughly 3 years. It's been fine til the last two cycles. I've not had any bleeds. I've never missed a bleed before. I've also had extremely tender breasts. I just wondered if anyone else had had issues with a HRT stopping working?

Thanks in advance,
Jess xx

Hi there    :welcomemm:
Some Women don't  get bleeds on sequi HRT. It just means the womb lining hasn't built up enough to shed.
As you are young, I would get a blood test to check your oestrogen levels - if you are low, then You may be needing a higher dose of HRT.

Thank you for replying!
Is there a higher dose than 2/10mg? I've got a clinic appointment in February or March. But my breasts are really tender, so I'm not sure if the femoston is doing that too. It's annoying because everything was going smoothly for ages before this.

It may be worth asking to have your oestrogen levels checked to see if you are achieving a good level of hormones on this HRT.
If your breasts are tender, I'm afraid that is a common HRT effect. You may just be experiencing a bit of a blip - you need this HRT to protect your heart and bones for the longer term.  There is a chance that, despite the chemo, your ovaries are still producing some hormones - so some tests might a good idea. I'm sure there is nothing to worry about - as long as you aren't getting hot flushes then it's fine. DG x

Thanks DG, I've got a appointment some time early next year so I'll ask them to take bloods then and feedback to me. No hot flushes so that's good. Couldn't stand it when I had them 😦 xx

Good luck. Keep us posted - we are here to support you. I had a premature meno in my mid 30s so I understand your concerns. DG x

Hi Jeshiekah

 :welcomemm:

So sorry to hear about your medical problems and early menopause due to cancer.

There isn't a higher dose of combi HRT but  some women don't absorb the HRT so well from tablets and take transdermal HRT (patch or gel). That way you can get higher doses nad ise a separate progestogen. I don't know enough about chemo but does it permanently stop the ovaries from working? Could it be some residual cycle as Dancinggirl suggests
