Estradiol and tummy shape?
« on: October 30, 2017, 09:24:10 AM »

Hi - I recently posted about being pleased with estradiol pessaries making life more comfortable. However, whilst this successful use continues, I have also noticed that I am developing a bit of a funny shaped belly ...you know, how they describe it as an “apron” on these programmes.

I had already changed shape and got a bit overweight since meno, but not sure if weird belly shape is just the continuation of this, or if estradiol could affect it??  Anyone else had experience?

I'm afraid this ‘apron' will appear with or without oestrogen. It's the skin sagging with gravity doing it's worst. Lots of tummy exercises and walking tall can help. Dg x

Middle Age Spread really does exist.  About 2 years ago my apron suddenly dropped!  From above I look fat but my weight hasn't increased  ::).  1st thing in the morning it's OK but by mid-afternoon it's bigger.

As oestrogen levels drop so muscles may become lax = aches and pains, plus the belly dropping  >:(.  Also, the body may become dry, inside and out.  Browse round ;-)

Oh, so much to look forward to, lol! ( yes, I already have some of the above mentioned issues).

Wish I could have five minutes with my eighteen year old self to tell her that 8 stone is not fat and a few spots are actually not so bad! She still wouldn't believe me!  ::)

Hi girls - interesting post - so  does anyone know what tummy exercises are suitable for the toning of this 'apron ' then?

If I tackle sit-ups they really hurt my back, and surely just walking alone , although an overall toner, won't do much for the stomach.

Any suggestions welcome

The ‘plank' is supposed to one of the best things for toning the tummy without putting stress on the back.  Sit ups are not a good idea generally.  I think the PLANK is a Pilates exercise - so a Pilates class is fab. DG x
