Hi Donna-paul

Your doctor is out of order in making you try tablets first if you wanted to try patches. It is so important to be completely clued up about HRT before asking for it otherwise the docs will give you the cheapest. I started on patches straight away because I knew I did not want to take HRT by mouth and did not want it to go through the liver. It is the most natural way of replacing your hormones.
Have a look at the different HRT preparations (Treatments tab above - pale green banner) - there are various progestogens although the most natural is Utrogestan as Annie0710 suggested. There are a very few women who rarely are allergic to any form of exogenous progestogen (including progesterone) and come out in a rash but I can only remember one or two on here in the past five or six years ( that I remember anyway

).
Once you've done your research and got your argument sorted out - as to why you want to use whichever product you choose - write it down and your reasons, and then go to your doc with this information - and be prepared to stand your ground!
Good luck and let us know how you get on
