Testogel dose and side effects
« on: October 19, 2017, 08:53:51 AM »

I have been prescribed testogel to help with rock bottom energy levels and told to use one sachet over 5 days then have 2 days break. My next appointment is after Christmas. On this forum someone said they'd used a syringe to decant a sachet into and measure doses. 1 sachet contains nearly 6ml so I've followed the docs instructions for 3 weeks but a single dose is much more than pea size that I've read other ladies using. I have noticed my heart racing and since using the gel I haven't slept very well and have started to have night sweats. I've read about men having the racing heart after applying gel but can't find anything about other symptoms. Advice I can find on the net is that as part of an HRT regime  make 1 sachet last between 7 and 14 days. So I've decided to take a few days break then start again with half a dose. Does this sound sensible? What symptoms have other users noticed and do they settle down if you persevere?

I've not used testogel but reduce your size blob for a few days and see if that helps.  I get the palps when I apply too much oestrogen, and within a day of reducing the palps settle.

Hi Stillsearching

It never ceases to amaze me how those using testosterone are all advised to use varying amounts.  I use much less than that (a pea sized amount) and am sure I wouldn't feel well on so much.  Like Annie say reduce your blob and hopefully symptoms will settle x

Yes I use the pea-sized blob too. Tostran is more concentrated so is not recommended as less easy to judge a pea and half a pea! I don't use a syringe - I can't see the point as you lose some left in the sachet and then some left in the syringe. A just squeeze out a blob and that's it! It really doesn't have to be exact - there will be some degree of daily variation. I've never had any side effects like that - but I am well post-meno.

I presume you are taking a decent amount of oestrogen as well?

Thank you for the responses. I've been taking Indivina 2/5 for about a year. Not as effective as the mirena and climaval. I had a blood test before being prescribed the testosterone and was told my oestrogen levels are high enough and they wouldn't want to increase that. I've reached a point where I don't even have the energy to sweep much of the path or do gardening or walk at a pace which was no problem a year ago. Very frustrating. I am also tearful again. The doc is hoping that by boosting my energy I will feel better and my mood will improve. I'm going to start tomorrow with a smaller dose and see how it goes.
