Trialling Premarin 1.25 with great results
« on: September 20, 2017, 12:32:56 PM »

Hi everyone   :-*

Just wanted to share this with you all. I have tried every type of hrt with varying success, the most so far being 100mcg estradot with 100mg utrogestan daily.

I realise premarin is controversial however it's important to share positive as well as negative experiences.

So far this has been nothing short of miraculous! I wish I'd of stuck to the prempak c that I tried years ago (which I also felt good on) but that I know has been discontinued anyway, plus I take a continuous regime now anyway.

any questions please ask!

Nina, I too am having a more positive experieince on premarin too.  I had such a bad introduction to hrt after the gel was so dreadful for me.  I am struggling though with finding a progestegen to work with it though.  Provera is better for me than utrogestan, but my hair is shedding a bit.  I don't know if it will settle or if I should consider angeliq with a top up of premarin

Hi katia yes it's the highest dose. I've been ok with the utrogestan luckily so don't have to think about changing it.
You could try a Mirena? Not sure if you've had one. Or that new one DUA something or other  ;D

Nina, I didn't want a mirena as it's levenorgestrel which is supposed to be bad for hair.  I'm really reactive to things too so I'm scared that I wouldn't be able to just remove it too.

Nina,  I'm glad you're having good results with it.  I get so scraed it will get discontinued.  From what I read 0.625mg is equal to 1mg estradiol, but i find it much more effective for the hot flushes and joint pain

Nina, did you start lower?  My mood hasn't been so great and I'm wondering if I need to go a little bit higher?

Hi there-thanks for the thread!- I too have tried many types of hrt and birth control pills!
I've just taken my first premarin today- the smaller dose. I do still have periods but they're much further apart and i really feel like i'm winding down!
Can I ask how you felt when first taking the premarin? It's just that I feel a bit shabby!! Ok moodwise (and horrible moods have been my main peri symptom) but find it hard to concentrate and quite lethargic, dry mouth. i find this- to varying degrees- with all the oestrogens i've tried!! whereas progestogens send me thru the roof! maybe i'm not a candidate for hrt yet- have to wait until really plateaued hormone-wise which prob isnt far off! thanks for any thoughts x

Is that the 0.3mg?  I started with that and it didn't do anything. I had to double it. It took a few days to get going. My mood is up and down and so is my skin and everything. I'm not sure I'm there HRT wise either, but the pill seems to be overkill now too

I had always said that Premique worked best for me after trying other HRTs but folk get so bogged down in the fact it is an 'old' HRT and the origins. My answer was that it may be old but the fact that it is still around today means that it is effective and quite frankly, after years of really struggling very very badly, I would have tried anything, legal or non-legal to make me feel better. Which it did. I'm glad it is working for you.

Bramble, it's working for me a lot better than the gel.  I've no meno symptoms, but I'm just not sure if it's supressing my mood though.  I've stopped uto and am seeing if it's any better with provera.  Both of them are progesterone or progesterone derrived, where the ones I had in the pill were testosterone derrrived, but non-androgenic.

Well I feel the best ever on Premarin. Really glad I tried it. I think maybe yes a bit of dry mouth but that seems to be it.

It has eradicated the slight foginess that usually follows me around, I have more energy and am more productive with the extra get up and go.

i too was put off because it was old and had somewhat of a bad press but then I did more research and decided to try it because ultimately there were no other higher estradiol tabs than 2mg and it wasn't strong enough.

I hated the gel 4 pumps took forever to dry on me and the patches whilst I thought they worked I now realise for me they were just the best of a bad bunch for me ;D

I am hoping, no, GOING to stay on hrt for ever if I can so I want to feel good not just ok. I have a yearly mammogram, smear, bloods and full assement through bupa so I'm doing all I can to stay healthy which to be honest is all you can do.

Nina, is it not the utro that's causing the dry mouth?  It did that to me. I'm ok with it for 4 days and then it builds up.

Hi katia no it's not the utrogestan I have been taking that daily for a few years now. I really am a fan of it!

Wow Nina, you're lucky. I'm struggling so much with finding a P. The only one I like is the one in angeliq, but Premarin works for me better than estradiol
