Vagifem and nausea
« on: September 14, 2017, 02:22:08 PM »

Hi ladies
I am on my second lot of vagifem using twice a week but I have started with nausea. I know this can be a side effect of vagifem, will it pass? If so how long?

Hi Sparkle
Yes, I took the 2 week dose initially prescribed by my GP for dryness, soreness and itching - although she never mentioned vaginal atrophy. I went back as symptoms seemed to return after a week or so of stopping. I saw a different GP who prescribed a second course but said she couldn't keep prescribing it and I would have to go to the hospital and see a gyno. The course she have me I have just used twice a week but have started with nausea. I am due to see the original GP tomorrow to see what she thinks as I don't want to be going through the hospital. The vagifem seems to work for me although I do sometimes get a sore clitoris (sorry if that's too much info!0but as my inner labia have all but disappeared I assume things are much more "open" and it gets aggravated by my underwear. I have atrted using some gel outside to help matters. Yes, it is a gamble but I would hate to go back to how I was at first as I could barely walk/sit without major discomfort. As I say, it put's a whole new meaning to chapped lips  ;D

Not that I recall but it has only just started (I have been using them twice a week for about a fortnight) I have had a few bouts of the runs too so am thinking it is the vagifem. My bowels seem to be settling but I have nausea.

It shouldn't affect the gut as it's localised.  Your GP is talking rubbish ........ she/he is able to prescribe for as long as necessary!

Ask for the other VA treatment and see if that is any better?

Nausea is on the list of side effects on the vagifem leaflet and apparantly looking on google, a lot of women get it. My GP refuses to prescribe long term until I have seen a gynae at the hospital. What is the other medication called?
