Femoston 2/10 Return of symptoms, others experiences please
« on: September 13, 2017, 09:04:01 AM »

Hi i am on my 2nd week of my 2nd month of Femoston 2/10. I am seeing a return of hot flushes, night sweats, sore finger joints and my mood is all over the place. Some days i feel ok ish, today i feel irritable, feel like crying and in a total bad mood when ive nothing to be in a bad mood about!

I am so fed up with it all i just want to feel like 'myself' and get on with my day.

Is this the best we can expect in peri whilst our own hormones are fluctuating? Would love to hear how anyone else is getting on with Femoston 2/10.

Hi sorry to hear your not doing well on it, I was the same I could only do two weeks as my moods dipped so low but I also have a bit of depression (which is under control) but had to stop.
The doctor did say it may settle but not to carry on as was so low.
I'm thinking it may pass when your body settles but up to you if you can persevere any longer.
Sending hugs xx

Hi - I could have written your post!! I am also taking Femoston 2/10 - for about 6 months and previously 1/10 for also 6 months. In the last few weeks I have also felt symptoms that had subsided, come back and with a vengeance! Mostly mood swings, tiredness and some anxiety. I am also presuming this is due to fluctuations in my own hormone levels? I find symptoms are often worse on the first two weeks and I actually feel better on oestrogen and progesterone weeks? I've probably been peri for 3 years and fear there may still be a way to go! I suppose you have to take the rough with the smooth dont you? Feel for you!

Hi Lil, thanks for the hug, certainly need it! I have suffered from depression too but was fine until 6 months ago when my symptoms returned with anxiety and crying added in! Have you moved on to another hrt?, if so how is it going?

Hi Bellababe, did you find your symptoms went initially with Femoston? I had been on Evorel Sequi previous to this wearing double patches but had a tough time on the conti patch hence the switch. I dont know if the Femoston isnt as strong or if its my own hormones causing the return of symptoms? Im probably about 3 years into this too. I was back to crying again this morning and thats one sympton i find very difficult to handle makes me feel horrible within myself. Have you tried any other hrt's?

Hope you are both doing ok.

Hi Angela ive only tried Femoston 1/10 and now 2/10. Tried 1/10 for 3 months and initially helped but then struggled so dr suggested upping it to 2/10 as I needed more oestrogen. 2/10 did initially help but now again I seem to be back to original symptoms. I may give it another month to compare with this month and if no better go back to dr. She said next step would be patches and gel - is this what you originally tried? Sorry you're feeling so teary - mentally and physically exhausting I know. I often tell myself out loud that 'this isn't me it's my hormones - it's not my fault!' It helps saying it out loud - makes it real rather than internalising it. Not sure what the neighbours must think!!! Take care x

Hello angela27 and Bellababe
Ive had a similar experience to you both. Started Femoston 1/10 Then upped to 2/10. After 8 months on Femoston 2/10 I seemed to have a recurrence of all my symptoms. Really annoying!! I was having a lot of stress in my life at the time and thought the two things might be linked. I decided to hold tight and see if things changed in 3 months - that seems to be the golden HRT rule and sure enough things did improve. Then dipped again! Not sure why - I'm peri so it could be my own hormones having a bit of a party, could be that life is full of stresses at the moment (who's isn't?) I've settled on the theory that  I'm not absorbing the tablets and transdermal was recommended to me.
So I'm trying  Femseven Sequi at the moment and some things are better and some worse. Sorry! Probably not much help to hear that I don't have a solution! I think it's important to give things time to settle and also keep yourself as healthy and calm as is humanly possible, so healthy eating regular exercise etc ...
I too tell myself it's hormones! And I'm still in shock that I feel so rubbish because I've had a very easy ride with hormones up until this stage of my life.
Perhaps give it a little longer?

Hi Lil, i havent heard of that one that you are going to try. I had a very bad day y'day, back to crying again not feeling good within myself at all. Today im not too bad but 'not myself' if you know what i mean. I think i need to stick with it, the hrt clinic i have telephone reviews with wouldnt entertain me changing anyway would want me to do the 3 months. I dont think there is an hrt to get us back to how we felt before. I hope your new hrt works out well for you, xx.

Hi Bella, yes my first hrt was Evorel Sequi, i found it really good, dealt with my hot flushes and night sweats the only symptoms i had at the time. When the anxiety and crying hit no good at all so they doubled my patches which was awful especially on the conti patch. I hope the femoston works out for you and you dont have to start messing about trying others, xx.

Hi RR, dont think there is a solution as such really. Do you find the Femseven stick ok?, meant to be notorious for not sticking. I'll just have to carry on with this and see how i go. Hope the Femseven improve for you, xx

I'm having similar up down moods. I was fine until I changed from the pill to HRT. I had every side effect going with the gel so switched to Premarin and now I have low mood sometimes and sometimes feel like crying and other times fine. I find I'm worse in the morning.  I've never had a mood or hormone problem before this but I'm sick of it too. I'm contemplating changing HRT again. I tried femoston, but Only lasted 2 days as I blew up like a balloon.

Hi Katia, it really is a horrible time all of this isnt it! I was going to try and stick it out with femoston but tonight i got angry with my girls (over nothing), have felt angry the last couple of days as well as the crying in the morning! I think im going to have to change yet again. How long were you on the gel for?, did you have side effects from the start? I have thought of trying the gel but to be honest i dont know were to go from here?!!

Angela, I did have side effects from the start wi the gel. The first week was horrendous. I had so many things happen I didn't know what was going on. I suspected the gel from the start but wondered if it was the Utrogestan. I was new to HRT and I'm hindsight should have just gone back to the pill. I was then told that I didn't have the proper gel and the other one would be better. I was no difference. It was only when I stopped for a week and started the gel back before the Utrogestan that I knew it was the gel. I. Now taking Premarin. It's a lot better than the gel, but my mood isn't great. I don't know if it's the HRT, or my own hormones. I did feel much better on the pill

I defiantly no the not feeling yourself! It's not nice is it? But don't forget your not alone :)
The one I'm getting is new so bit nervous to be honest but can only try.
Fingers crossed things settle but worse case you may have to try another so try not to worry.
When I started out changing (mine got discontinued after ten years) I kept a diary which was really helpful even now I have notes to look back on see how o was on diff hrt xxx

Hi ladies, how are you all doing? I havent felt too bad y'day and today. When i have the days were i dont feel like myself, low mood, crying etc.. (far more of these than the good!) i get really worried and panicked. As this is an ongoing process with our hormones declining if i dont get my hrt right then im stuck like this for years to come! The thought just horrifies me, does anyone else feel like this?

I get lots of silly questions in my head about hrt could it be causing this or that, the hrt clinic dont want to know they are not there for that just to prescribe and leave you to it for 3 months. I know nobody has the answers just to bounce things off.

I get really bad under eye swelling every morning which does reduce throughout the day, my doc just says getting older we dont do cosmetic surgery on the nhs. Something causes it?!, it effects how i feel about myself really badly, ive never been the prettiest this just makes me look so much older and feel horrible!!

Lose of smell and taste, anybody else? I just finished a weeks strong course of anti b's for sinus infection hoping it would have returned things to normal - nope.

My gums have recceeded so badly since i went on the double patches, i believe my hrt/hormones have caused this.

All these wee things just compound how i feel overall, knocks yours confidence another couple of notches. Dont know if any other ladies feel or think any of these things??
I have moaned on enough, sorry, just needed to say some of that.
Maybe by the time im 51 or 52 i'll feel better all round!!, lol, xx.
