Hi
I too have a severe intolerance to Progesterone, so severe causing allergic reactions - I even tried the Mirena, but had to have it removed within the week. I was therefore forced to stop all HRT, but suffered with horrendous, crippling hot flushes!
After trying every other alternative, my Gp referred me to a Consultant - he admitted that the only thing that would really help is Estrogen and to take this long term, I would need a Hysterectomy. I personally felt this to be a step too far for myself.
I then read about a new HRT Duavee/Duavive available in America that contained no Progesterone, but instead Bazedoxifene and was due to be trialled in the UK. I contacted my Consultant, who admitted he had heard of it and agreed to find out more about it from colleagues.
After several months I finally obtained this HRT through my Consultant and have now been taking it for over 12 months. Duavive has turned my life around, it has stopped the hot flushes and I have experienced no side effects whatsoever - I am once again enjoying and taking part in life again!
Duavive is still not readily available through the NHS (I obtain it on private prescription), but it should now be possible to obtain it through a Consultant.
