Struggling on Tibolone
« on: August 28, 2017, 03:44:08 PM »

:'( This is day 27 for me on Lavial/Tibolone  and I'm really struggling. I so want to give it longer as I know it takes time for all types of HRT to settle down, but my levels of anxiety, anger,  impatience and tearfulness have been building and are now through the roof. It's a beautiful, sunny bank holiday Monday and I can hear my beautiful children and my kind, thoughtful long-suffering husband playing in the garden. I'm just so horrible to be around and feel so bleak and depressed,  I can only face staying in bed. Since going on Tibolone this seems to be getting worse. I'm seeing my GP tomorrow,  but wondered if anyone else on Tibolone suffered like this in the first month of taking it? I'm really wondering if I can face staying on it.....even if it is the initial hormones settling down. Any advice would be so helpful. Thank you. SSD xx

Its very hard to suggest to give it longer when you are suffering like you are.  There really is no point in putting yourself through this

I was on Tibolone for 5 months and I had to halve my tablet each day as it was making me jittery (I was great for prob first 2 months) but then night sweats came back and I was getting down in the dumps.  I changed to oestrogen gel and testosterone gel and felt much better

Try something else that you haven't tried before.  Get your life back, don't keep on with something that's making you so sad and down x

Hi Annie thanks so much for your reply. I agree it makes no sense struggling on like this. The doc did say another option to try was nat. progesterone with transdermal estrogen. I've read that you can also add testosterone to regulate mood swings and improve libido so I'm going to discuss this too. Thank you for sharing your experience and advice   SSD xx

Yes try utrogestan (progesterone) and patches .  Estradot are good, very sticky and very small.  Start at maybe 50mcg and see how you feel.  You may want to start a new thread in the utrogestan, as many women like to use them vaginally for less side effects.  I'm afraid its trial and error with hrt, and tweaking butcdont get disheartened, if you don't feel brill but don't feel wretched try 3 months trial x
