I get grogginess, sluggishness, and slow digestion with oral Prometrium. Unfortunately my practitioner will not authorized to use it vaginally. 😞 She is quite knowledgeable about menopause and is a GYN clinician who specializes in menopause issues.
She said that it is not clear what amount, and how consistently the Prometrium is absorbed vaginally, and it's for this reason that they will not prescribe it this way in their practice (in the U.S.) So, even if I wanted to do it that way, I would really be taking my chances with no option for lining checks unless I went 'off the grid' and paid for them myself without my doctor knowing.
Although I know women here do use it vaginally very successfully, (and I'm so glad for them! 😊) I trust this practitioner as she has quite a few years of experience, and I am going to go with what she's told me.
I feel for ALL we women having progesterone side effects, because it really is no fun. I would follow either of those two regimens that you mentioned in your original post. That seems to be the fairly standard dosing regimen's for people on low-mid levels dose estradiol patches or gels. Good luck!
