« on: August 18, 2017, 10:38:32 PM »

Hi can u please help. I am post menopausal. My g6naecologist put me on oestrogel which is helping my bladder symptoms of urge and frequency but she also put me on utrogestan. I dont want to have a bleed. Went to another consultant and she told me to take one 100mgs of utrogestan per day with 2 pumps of oestrogel but it is makinv me feel v nauseous and unwell. I want to keep things natural and have continuous combined therapy. D9nt want to xhange bioidentical oestrogen. Are there any good hrt combined thar dont gave nasty side effects. Worried about hair thinning etc. Also treating bladder symptoms locally with vagifem but not great. Am sensitive to vaginal creams. Please help. Desperate to feel better.

Some find that the fillers or outer coatings cause problems rather than the active ingredient.  How much Vagifem are you applying, some ladies find that they require nightly use and some have to double up the amount inserted on alternative nights.

Utrogestan is bio identical and the safest option for progesterone therapy why dont you try it cyclically for approx 12 days per mth, that is the most natural way as it sort of mimics a normal cycle, if you use it vaginally you should avoid the nausea, mind you I do also get bouts from time to time, when I am using it.

Many thanks for replying. I really dont want to go back to havng a bleed as i am post menopausal. Will changing from sequential to combined cause problems. My gynaecologist mentioned femostan conti. Is that good. Hrt meant to make  u feel good not sick. Getting tightness in chest with urtogestan.

I have been post meno for over 10yrs but would rather suffer a bleed each month than have to use the Utro on a permanent basis as it is I put off starting it each month but have to suck it up and grimace for the 12 days, it give me fairly bad insomnia and makes me feel a bit wired up and odd bouts of nausea but I really do not know of a better option sadly.

If you want to do continuous combined then the only other non-oral alternative is to have a Mirena coil (instead of utrogestan) and then carry on with the gel oestrogen. Femoston is a good HRT type - and the best tolerated of the tablet HRT as the progestogen is similar to progesterone but is taken in much smaller doses so fewer side effects. However the F conti only comes in the 1 mg dose which may not be high enough for some women.
