Thank you.  Doing my best to stay positive. Busying up the week as much as possible.

Good luck with that!  I got called back after my first one nearly 3 years ago and got the letter on my birthday! Not sure whether to expect my 2nd one next spring (3 years) or after 5 years.

Round here they call you up every 34 months from the date of the recall (not the subsequent investigations or later appointment)

Lizzieb60 - I once had a recall but mine turned out to be because the actual mammogram wasn't good enough quality so had to be repeated rather than that they'd found something.. My letter was ambiguous but said that this could be the reason (poor quality mammogram). I wonder if yours is like this too so may not necessarily mean a problem?

Ours come automatically every 3 years for everyone who falls within the age-group. As we are rural - a huge mobile unit comes to the supermarket car park in the small market town where the surgery is and sits there for a few weeks - so I got my first one at 52 almost 53 even though you are eligible from 50 - because I had just missed one when I turned 50.

Hope all is well Lizzieb60...

I was called up for my first at 48 (there was a trial, apparently but it was not made clear that this is what it was), second at 51 and third at 53.  This is because they recall every 34 months rather than 3 years.  I was recalled after the second one for a patch that looked like cancer, and had lots of mammograms and ultrasound, but it was the result of using only two views in the screening - they sometimes come together to make something that isn't there, apparently.

I feel a bit overscreened.  My friend, however, found a suspicious bit and was diagnosed with cancer just before she was 53, but they had not called her up at all.

I really appreciate the reassurances.  I don't sleep very well as it is so the countdown to Friday goes very slowly at night.  I am taking on board that even if it turns out to be something sinister at least it will be good to know sooner rather than later.

I will keep everything crossed for you that it will be ok - most recalls are.

My friend who had the lump had an op and radiotherapy and is ok (although a bit shaken).

Glad to see you <wave back>  ;D

I hope my friend will be around and waving for a lot longer, too.

It always sounds so full of doom, the lump bit  :(  But it was surprising how soon they said she was ok (apart from the op complications  >:( )

Weirdly the closer Friday gets the calmer I am feeling. As you ladies are quite rightly saying, if it's isn't good news at least it's detected.  I have filled the week up with so many chores and yes CLKD the longest hours are indeed just before dawn.

Just an update on the mammogram recall; I had the appointment this morning after a worrying week.  Kept busy during the day but night times were my irrational times.  The consultant first of showed me the area on her screen and said she thought it was a cyst.  After having an ultrasound procedure, she then drained it (not too bad - think it's more of having a needle in your boob) and repeated the mammogram, and said I was good to go.  I asked if I should have felt it and she said no as it was soft and it's only when they are hard they are palpable.  I also asked her if HRT was a factor and she said it could be, but there are many so I am thinking I will probably continue with my oestrogel/utrogestan regime.  Thank you so much ladies for your supportive posts.  They really helped me to stay grounded this week.  Didn't help much with the sleep mind, but nevertheless I was so much calmer than I thought I would be overall.  It isn't a great experience and wouldn't wish it on anyone but a good outcome.  My daughter and I both felt the same leaving the clinic, and that was hoping the other anxious looking ladies would also be walking out a bit lighter of step.

Well Done  :medal: and  :thankyou: 4 the update.

I am sure that the Consultant would have advised against the oestrogel/utrogestan regime if it was necessary for your over-all health.

Much the same date for me. I got a recall on March 11th to go back on the 13th. I was then discharged.
