YAZ & ANGELIQ worried about risk of strok?
« on: August 08, 2017, 07:05:48 AM »

Morning Ladies,

I am on week 15 of Angeliq and doing ok. Still a few side effects such as the dreaded weird head feeling but not as bad as Tibolone caused.

However yesterday I read YAZ has caused a high number of strokes in young women. My question is as Angeliq is the sister product of YAZ with same progesterone only less how safe is it????

Many thanks Wx

Hi warwick - I think the worry with all of the combined pills is the risk of stroke in older women. The YAZ cases were highlighted due to the fact that they affected younger women (under the age of 35) which was unexpected. I think it sparked a lot of law suits as younger women were not included in the "at risk" section of the patient information.

I can't remember how old you are?

Hi Taz

Thanks for your response.

I am 58 and as you may recall after 4 good years on 4 pumps of Oestrogel with separate Northisterone for 7 days every 5/6 weeks all went down hill in 2015. Doctors told me I had become sensitised to Oestrogel ??? :-\

I seem to be doing ok on Angeliq with small amount of testogel but now worried about the stroke issue I read yesterday. I check my BP every day, all good there but I do still get funny feelings in my head.

Thanks again Wxx
