sore bottom area
« on: July 11, 2017, 02:41:16 PM »

My Atrophy would appear to have disappeared. This is such a relief. My itching has also gone. My problem now is my anal area is extremely sore. it was very itchy but that has cleared up with a steroid cream from the Doctors. I am now using a cream called Pranicure which I ordered from the internet. It is very soothing and healing is progressing nicely. Just wondered if this is another Menopausal symptom that we women have to go through and if anyone else has suffered this. Other than this I do believe Menopausal symptoms are leaving me. I hope the same can be said for others. There is light at the end of the tunnel. I just need to clear the soreness up. My sister says I must not sit on our new lanolin carpet as the lanolin could be affecting that area. Replies appreciated.

What's a 'lanolin carpet'  :-\ ?

I use Vaseline, Savlon or Anusol if it becomes itchy/sore, it's probably due to over-all dryness due to lack of oestrogen.

Thanks for the reply. I was supposed to say the lanolin in the wool carpet. Had a senior moment. I too thought lack of estrogen might be causing the soreness and making the skin dry. Some days it is much better than others. Will mention it again to my Doctor when I see him on Monday. Thanks again.

I doubt if there is any lanolin in a woollen carpet as many people are allergic to it!  What does the Label tell you? and do you sit on the carpet with a bare bottom anyway  :-X

Worms.  General dryness.  As oestrogen levels drop off so the whole body may become dry, inside and out  ::).  Get the Vaseline/Anusol tube and use liberally ;-)

Thanks for your replies. Have been to the doctors and been prescribed a tablet called mebenazole ( for worms) That was rather alarming when I read what the tablet was for, but hey ho if it works that will be brilliant.  Daktacort cream also prescribed for a fungal infection. Hoping now it will clear up the itching and infections. Thanks again for answers and support.

Do you have worms ............ unless it's been prescribed to stop the itch/scratch cycle?  Is it a one-off swallow?

Do you have a fungal infection  :-\ ......... let us know how you get on ?

That's a US Clinic though there is probably NHS info somewhere .  I am also aware of what they suggest the causes might be but tnx anyway.

There's no indication for use of this medication other than to rid the body of worms  :-\

Yes, I do have a fungal infection hence the Daktacort being prescribed. Have used it twice and already feeling some relief. Long may it continue.  I have been given 6 chewable tablets. Pick them up from the chemist tomorrow. Will let you know how it goes. Thanks again.
