I wonder if you can help. I've already got a milk intolerance, now having upset tums after eating eggs.

Wondered if those of you who keep chooks feed them milk products or whether I've now got an intolerance to eggs.

 I can't remember what was in the chicken pellets or meal that we fed ours.  It could contain milk products though.  Is there a chicken farm near to you?

Is the intolerance in fried eggs or baked products?

IngrediCountry Layers pellets and meal provide a complete feed for free range laying birds. Traditional quality ingredients are used to make a 3mm pellet or a coarsely ground meal. Calcium is added to provide strong shells, together with all the necessary minerals and vitamins for a healthy bird.

To give an attractive yolk colour, pigments extracted from marigold petals are added together with another compound which occurs naturally in the skins of oranges.

Country Layers should be fed ad lib to laying birds. A typical bird will eat between 130 and 140 grammes per day.

If mixed corn or wheat is to be fed then it should be in small quantities in the afternoon. Too much will reduce the bird's appetite for the layers pellets and they may not get enough protein, minerals and vitamins.

Grit A constant supply of fresh water and grit should be provided.

I sympathise CG. I have vomiting after eggs nowadays - I don't feel that ill but just can't tolerate eggs. I'm fine with egg products though... so far...

I have found this about egg allergy and egg intolerance - two different things http://www.doctorshealthpress.com/food-and-nutrition-articles/how-to-treat-nausea-after-eating-eggs-or-chicken. Although it's says "nausea" it does deal with the fact that egg intolerance can cause diarrhoea etc. due to the lack of a certain enzyme in the small intestine

Hi Cubagirl,

I hope you haven't an allergy to eggs as well as dairy foods. Unfortunately my DD has both allergies. I have found I had reactions to unidentified foods through the years. If it's any comfort, my reactions have become less severe post menopause.

I've messaged butcher where I purchase my eggs. He may not know, but worth asking. Hope it's not an egg intolerance!

There shouldn't be any difference - eggs is eggs .........  meal is meal ..........

Sorry to hear about this cubagirl but I am a bit confused here. Are you lactose intolerant or is it the milk protein? Either way I fail to see how feeding chickens milk could make the slightest bit of difference to the eggs.  As far as I understand chickens do not digest milk products well and it can go straight through ( ie lactose?) - and eggs cannot contain lactose.  . Yellow pigments that are put into feed do find their way into egg yolks because they are fat soluble but not sure it is biologically possible for lactose to do so as it would need to be absorbed into the blood stream and then become part of the egg, but maybe you have info to show this occurs?

Either way - do hope you haven't developed another food allergy as that would be a right pain - not to be able to eat eggs as they are in so many things - and if you're anything like me, I eat tons of them!

Been ok with other eggs. I can't take any form of milk at all Hurdity, even by-products like whey or casein,  the smallest amount sets me running.  Some medicines contain lactose, it's a nightmare. I started buying eggs at butchers a few months back, instead of supermarket as they were really fine, only just put 2 & 2 together that every time I ate butcher's eggs, my tum was upset.
