Author Topic: It's THIS pattern that leads to my face burning, what do you think?  (Read 3098 times)

Hi everyone

I'd like to run this past you.  I have had a few periods of facial burning and flushing (but not 'hot' flushes in the sense of not feeling hot) in the last couple of months.

I also had a pattern of being very lazy about preparing food and so would just eat 'something' from the shop, usually a sandwich or whatever, and would not be taking in a proper amount of calories....

I was getting a lot of palpitations and heart skips...usually when I'd been going through a period of just grabbing convenience foods and not eating enough.

Well....my only other theory was that I would get this facial burning when I was tired and overworking....but after a 14 hour day and long commute the other day, and no facial burning, I thought I'd cracked it.  Usually if anything did it, it would be that.

I thought it was the resveratrol supplement I was taking....

But tonight, I've got a mild burn going on.....and I have actually had two days of not eating properly again.  My stomach has that 'well you stuffed crap in me so I don't want to eat, but I'm not full' feeling, lol.  And I've had a couple of heart skips.

It seems the heart skips are often triggered by the stomach 'empty' sensations, even after eating.  once it's been irritated it takes a while to calm down.

And now it looks as though the whole stomach thing might be the trigger for the burning face too....

Anyone any thoughts?  While I'm most likely in peri at 47, perhaps this 'burning' issue is mainly due to stomach issues as a result of not eating properly.  (yes I'll try hard to correct this, I just hate cooking)

Interested what you think because I'm beginning to think it (and the palps) may be more avoidable if this is the case.

Thanks for reading.  :-)

Hi Rosanna,

I get a burning face too, almost like a wind or sun burn feeling that comes and goes. Very rarely have hot flushes.

I can't seem to work out why it happens but it does seem to be worse mid cycle for me sonny sure if it's ovulation related. I also seem to be getting silent/vestibular migraines and seem to get it when one is coming on too.

It's a funny business isn't it!
Not much help I know but thought it would be nice to know someone else is experiencing it x

This is how my hot flushes started.

Just the face.  Then disappeared for a whole year.

came back just the face...but on and off, after a glass of wine for instance.

Then a year or so later came the flushes ::) and palpitations/panic attacks.

I have given up caffeine, wine, stopped smoking (years and years ago) exercise at least 5X daily and do yoga.

It's all worth a try as is eating less more often.

I really hope you can find a link which means you can avoid them best of luck

Hmmm....think this will be my pathway through it.  Had palps and panics for 8 weeks, about 3 weeks ago, now reverted to what seems my usual cycle....and burning face pretty much gone.  The other day when I posted this I thought it was going to come on intensely again but it didn't.  Definitely food is an issue.  Just delaying a meal will do it, but at the moment probably not as it's calmed down.  All very weird, lol

I'm so glad you have the food issue to minimise the problem.

Whatever happens you/we have these fabulous ladies to support us don't we?

Just now my flushes are only maybe 6 a day so I am making the most of it.  :)

Hi Rosanna
Well I have had the palps and heart skips and also the increased heart rate, admitted to hospital with it all and doctor asked if I skipped meals!!!!
Well what do you know .....yes sometimes! Also since starting on this  lovely journey of peri my thyroid has been playing up, docs think it's through years  of yoyo dieting has sent it off kilter.
I know eat little and often and always have a nakd bar in my bag. Seems to have helped!
Totally changed my diet and am now gf due to thyroid and has helped as I have to think about what I eat as opposed to chucking anything down my throat!!!!
Hope this helps!

The burning face is my problem too. It started 3 years ago when I was taking Yasmin. I switched to Cilest it went away. I also got it with Qlaira, but not with .femodene. I've just changed to HRT and again I've got it. My theory is it's either a reaction to a type of progesterone or when the hormones are not balanced.
