Swapping Hrt
« on: June 01, 2017, 06:55:57 PM »

Hi Ladies,

I'm currently on Evorel conti, been 3 months now and had a bleed for last 26 days, I'm 56 and never gone a year without a period, so im considering going back on evorel sequi I only came off because I wanted to try to go through the menopause naturally which did not work and my gp suggested conti is it possible I may still have own hormones and it's over stimulating? Do I have to go a week before swapping my hrt

Thank yo

Yes you may be someone who is having a late menopause. No need to wait a week I would suggest - you can start straight away with the Evorel sequi, but if it was your own cycle breaking through you might be a bit out of sync - especially at first. If you start the oestrogen only patches then this might cause a bit of extra bleeding ( but on the other hand as you have just had a long bleed your lining may have all shed) and then in two weeks start the conti patches, and then you should have another bleed shortly (or around the time) that you complete this 4 weeks course. Hope that doesn't sound too confusing?

It took me almost six months to be bleed free on Evorel Conti.
I really don't want a bleed in my late 50s, in fact I wouldn't even consider it at all.

These patches suit me fine but my GP told me I had to be patient with regard to breakthrough bleeding. Given the fact I was bleeding all the time on the Sequi I was prepared to grit my teeth until it settled which it did and I've been fine ever since.

Hope you find something that suits. Oh and I'm almost 57 now.
