Update.
« on: May 29, 2017, 02:30:22 PM »

Hello ladies.

I thought I'd update the forum regarding my last 3 months using Tibolone/Livial.

It's worth bearing in mind that I am 60 and had a lateish menopause at 54. I resisted HRT tor 3 years hoping that I could get through it but when the anxiety became too much I asked for HRT. I had been using Evorel Conti 50 mcg patches but as these weren't eliminating symptoms I asked for Tibolone.
Three months ago I began by taking half a tablet at bedtime for 3 weeks, then added another half in the morning for two weeks and finally one whole tablet at bedtime. My daily symptoms were and continue to be:-
irritability, tender breasts, wanting to cry, tense as in PMT, recent headaches, very tired and feel as if I don't sleep properly, flushy, surges of panic, wake some nights  red faced and hot, jittery and anxious, panic easily, low mood and no motivation. (Sorry for the long list but I want to be thorough). I generally feel better in the evening after the pressure to get through the day has passed. I can also feel calm and normal at random times during the day but it doesn't last!

I realise that I probably need more oestrogen but when I tried increasing my patch to 75 mcg I had problem bleeding plus at 60 I'm worried about increasing the dose.

I suppose I am hoping that my body will eventually adjust to low oestrogen and then the Tibolone will be enough to ease symptoms for the future, not much to ask is it ladies?!

I hope the above is somehow helpful and informative and I look forward to reading your comments.

Take care ladies and wishing you all well.

Get an anti-anxiety medication if that is your worst symptom?

Hi Kathleen,

You could be me... and I'm 51! So sorry you're still struggling, but you're probably on the right track, maybe give your body more time to adjust to the new chemicals. I have stopped HRT and just waiting for my 12 month period-free, until then I think I'll try to change other aspects of my life (exercise, diet, mindfulness) and if nothing improves, go the HRT route again. Your updates are very welcome! Hugs

Hi Kathleen

Thanks for the update and sorry you are continuing to experience these symptoms at your age despite taking HRT.

If things do not improve I highly recommend my regime which is an Estradot patch together with vaginal utrogestan on a long cycle. I never have hot flushes - but I don't tkae progesterone continuously. Downside of course is having a bleed and sometimes I do wonder at mid 60's....however I do not relish the alternative at  the moment.

I hope you do see an improvement soon - I presume you have had blood tests eg re thyroid function to check there are no other reasons for your symptoms?
